uicp needed or not?
In the next few months i will be installing an Maperfomance ef3 turbo cuz ive heard nothing but great things, cams, injectors... i have all the basic boltons already, 3" tbe exhaust, ets intake, ets licp, grimmspeed ebc, walbro etc. And incoming ETS intercooler 3.5" from Maperformance. I will be after tune around ~450-500whp. The only thing i dont have is the uicp so its stock. Ive been told by a few that its not a restriction but that was at my 300 whp mark now. Will it be a big restriction at my incoming whp? I know it would be a good idea just to do it but im already spendin nearly 3000$ on my turbo, cams, injects so id like to save the 300$ id spend on a ets uicp and put it towards a clutch or something.
I would go ahead and do it I mean why not a couple hundred more you still have a good ways to have the money for a clutch at least a good one I have done my upper and lower at 300whp plus it looks better and did you do the battery relocation yet or get the mini batt?
An upper pipes is not nessary, a lower ic pipe will be a good addition. If you want to clean up the engine bay then try a short rout piping kit/mini battery set up. Look into an upgraded bypass valve, I'm pushing my crushed 9 valve open on drag launches.
There has been some debate regarding the UICP and if it actually gets you any gains. I went with a short route ETS UICP, but without a back-to-back comparison on the same dyno I have no idea if there were any gains to be had.

So why did you go with S2s?
It sounds like it leaves room for more power where the s1s will run out. Im ok with a
later power band. and would like more rpms like 9k if possible would be sweet.
I guess what I really want to know is with the ef3 why are the s2s better?
I am gonna save your alias cuz it sound like you and I will have the same setup.

As for the UICP I just dont know it seems to be back and forth. Id like to use the money then also to get a synapse BOV cuz I have a evo 9 bov that isnt crushed but if im pushin above 25psi and maybe almost up to 30 it seems like the 9 might start failing to do the job. I will crush it but still hear its only good to a little over 25 psi.
Any tips on crushing it???
If I could see some good comparisons on the UICP upgrade id do it but for now Im gonna get the 3.5" ets anodized red intercooler cuz the red will look badass on my black evo 8 with black rota grids with the red lip i hate matte clearcoated.

Well I went with s2s mainly because I left room to grow and well there amazing but really from the test that have been run with s2s your not really sacrificing any spool or low end to much and there top end mos deff makes it worth any low end lost if any really I'm extremely happy with them. I'm being very very restricted by the stupid stock 02 housing just waiting for my toxic fab 02dump and exhaust manifold but as of right now my list is
Ef3 with all the options
Speed density intake
Hks tbe with test pipe
S2s with gsc beehive springs and titanium retainers
Fic 1250 bluemax injectors
AMS 3.5 fmic with lower icp and part ucip with tial 50mm bov
Comp stage 2 clutch w/ oem flywheel
Arp head studs
Walbro 255
Some random mbc for now lol swapping with maybe a 3port
Stock block
I'm sure I'm missing little things lol but due to the stock 02husing restricting me bad :/ my power I at 402 awhp and 335ft lbs tq @25.5 lbs now once my toxic fab stuff comes in I should make closer to 450 untill I switch to e85

I would suggest getting the upper pipe for the 8/9. The reason being is the factory hose has a long rubber section that balloons under throttle and contracts under vacuum. Overtime the factory hose soaks with oil and while ballooning it pops off. It's a great item for reliability purposes.
