do I need an Evo?

After seeing Warren's awesome display at the SCCA RallyCross National Championship, I thought I'd check the Evo's out. A quick search led me to this site.

So right now I'm just looking around and trying to figure out which one would be the one to have just in case I run across one. I think the right one in stock configuration would be the '05 and 06's since they have the ACD. From what I've read, the 5 speed is slightly preferable to the 6 speed.

I suppose it's all what you prefer. So many people told me to look at the 10's but I was determined to find an 8 or 9. I searched for a long time and what I found was that the ones that had lower miles, all had something wrong with them. Things were broken on them, etc etc. The ones that had higher miles, were nicer, but I didn't want anything with more than 40K on it because we all know they were driven hard. Not one evo I found was stock. If it's something you will wait awhile for, just keep searching. They are out there, just super hard to find.

All depends on what you are looking to do with.

I would say a X is not very good for autoX due to the extra weight it has over the 8/9.

But if a comfortable ride is what you need, X is it.

I just bought an Evo 8 with 58k miles for 13k. They are out there but, you have to look every day and be willing to travel. I have to drive 5 one way to pick it up. It was SOOOOO worth it.

I drove 6.5 hours one way for mine. Hated life and was beyond exhausted, but so worth it in my book.

Go ahead, keep talking from your gape, continue on amusing us all
I've put mine through pretty much everything and anything you can put an Evo 8 through and it's strong and solid as can be. There are lots of choices, sure some out there have been poorly modded or owned by total idiots and that's why you hunt around to find a clean one with mods to suit your needs and wants.

Personally I'll never own a X, too family car feeling. I did like them a lot when I test drove it, I nearly fell in love. BUT once I really thought about it, the 8/9's are more raw feeling, better handling IMO and much easier to make huge reliable power numbers.

Op, if you want an Evo, yes you need an Evo .

Well that's what I though when I wanted a evo ah the 8 feels like its a real evo I liked how it lookd but I went with the x cuz I didn't want a already mod evo but after I got the x then got in my friends evo 8 it just feels like a old car really but that's just me everyone has their taste n opinion

I agree, the x feels like a newer more civilized street vehicle interior wise. I just prefer the rough raw feel from the OG Evo's either way is win

I'm stuck at the same situation. I finally saved up enough for an evo, but am asking if its really necessary.
