Yes and no

To do 400 whp on 93 you would need an fp green or gt30r.

But the stock pistons in the STi only hold 350-370 so you need to have a built motor.

It's going to cost in the range of 4-7k to have a reliable 400 whp. Even then you have to worry about oiling issues and spinning a bearing.

Damn man, that and i think the factory ride is horrible on them. Also why the hell do so many subie owners hang dolls and stuff off their rear bumper? I think it looks stupid whatever the reason

I think its due to the whole stance / drifting car counterculture that's going on right now.

I am starting to be scared by how many Subaru's are being "stanced" these days , Taking a car with such a racing pedigree and runing the suspension just does not make sense to me.

The factory suspension in the STi is a little soft for most people from what my friends have said. But some people say that makes for a great DD.

Stop by our suspension board. It's a safe refuge from the ricing. Welcome, BTW.

I have owned 02 WRX, 04 STi, 08' STi HB, 11' Sedan..

The seats are wide/soft, when you autocross you slide out of seat
Compared to an EVO steering is much slower and not nearly as fast..
Suspension is much more softer indeed and doesn't handle /feel as planted when racing/spirited driving! After riding in my friends Evo's over years 1st Gen/ EVo X, I am SOLD! I am currently on the Hunt!

I could agree for DD Awd+ Boost is Winning combo, but if you want more then that, Evo shines to me!

I am glad I am not alone, I am picking up my first evo tomorrow., I owned two 2005 sti's in the past. I was always afraid my motor was going to grenade itself.

Most of these statement are incorrect. A stock 257 bottom end can hold 450-450 and then i would be more concerned with the rods. Horsepower is not the killer, detonation is. The oiling issue you mention is accurate though. 400 at the wheels is not a real task with meth injection and a green. 3-4k can get you there.

Well, I bought it with 169k miles, had never been modified. I bought it knowing it would be a project, but so far it runs/drives great and I am finishing up going a lot of maintenance on it. (So far I have done the timing belt, brakes, plugs, wires, water pump, replaced the coolant, and fixed the broken HVAC knob/wire/gears) I have the trans, acd, rear diff, and tranfer case fluids on order so that will be done next weekend.

all and all so far so good, just took it on a 500 mile road trip to road atlanta this weekend.

Its nothing more than race car.
Stereo sucks
Daily comfort sucks
Interior quality sucks
Access to things in the engine bay sucks

Its a rally car just know that.

The transfer case may not be the strongest on the evo's, but they are usually broken with people launching the car and then saying the t-case sucks.

You take care of the car and everything will last. You launch it, you stomp the gas pedal around corners and abuse parts, and things will fail like in any car.

You might even hear people saying "The stock clutch sucks". Well the truth is, they dont know how to drive, because there's plenty of evo members that have driven 60,000 miles+ with above stock whp numbers.
