Would you trust the drivetrain on this Evo IX MR?

I know I know, that vader body kit is horrible, but nothing $500-600 couldn't fix. I'm looking past that.

What I'm most worried about is the autocheck states in 2008

03/07/2008 NC
State Agency RIGHT FRONT IMPACT WITH A MEDIAN BARRIER
MINOR TO MODERATE DAMAGE REPORTED

Leads me to believe it somehow spun out - Drivetrain wise, is there anything specific I should keep an eye out for? Or, should I pass it off completely? It appears to have been driven quite a bit after that accident so...

I'm looking for a IX in general, plans are sub-400 - mainly to scoot around town, spirited drives in the mountains, and some light auto-x and drag duty. I'm aware of the 6spd have a weaker trans for higher power in general, but are better for highway cruising. So, input?

if it were me i tend to pass on cars that slid into things. the side impact seems like it'll have drivetrain damage thats hard to notice. body damage i wouldnt mind. if its near you go check it out and ask if theres any warranty on drivetrain specifically or anything else.

it'll be more than $500-600 to get rid of that bodykit unless you mean just the front bumper. Closer to $1,000

Also, the core support looks like it's a different color than the rest of the car. and there are a lot of random wires hanging from the dash

that's about the price you'd pay for a car that hadnt been in an accident and had that many miles

Car looks clean from the pics. I would drive it and see how it feels, minor to moderate isnt that big of a deal especially considering there was no unibody damage listed. Everything else is cosmetic. Take it for a good drive and feel it out. The body kit on the other hand is the most hideous thing I've ever seen. I wouldnt be caught dead driving that thing around until it was back to OEM.

With paint, yes.

I didn't notice the core support off hand - I haven't taken a close look at it as its about 3.5 hours away.

Most IX's seem to be around $25k.

I figured as much, I'm just pretty green to owning an Evo - I've driven an 8 numerous times, memory still stays with me ( particularly hitting 2step at a light and causing a large lady sleeping on some stairs to wake up startled and fall/roll down them... )

As for the kit - well, if I was going to switch it out, I figured might as well aim for something still aftermarket, just not as gaudy ( e.g. C-1 front bumper and extreme dimensions sides and rear. Brownie points if you can figure out from this where the ricer in me got the inspiration )

It wouldn't worry me too much if I looked at it closely. It would be nice to see it up on a lift. if the tires are wearing well and it pulls straight, feels the same turning both ways. If you could get them down to 16 or so it wouldn't be a bad deal.
Tell them you will leave them the front bumper. lol.

5 spd tranny = stronger than 6 spd. But used 6 spd tranny are much cheaper these days. You can pick one on side and rebuild in case.

There aren't many people rebuild 6 spd tranny. So you won't find much info/reviews about it. But if you staying around 350tq and replace tranny fluids more. i honestly don't think it is not going to be that bad.

Price seems pretty low cmpared to what ive been seeing, and whats been selling but with that bumper on it i can see why. Give it a test drive, listen for Whines, see how it shifts at high RPM, see how it goes into Reverse. Drive it for a few and check for leaks too around the Tcase/Trans.

Well it was in an accident previously, so I'm chalking that up to its price.

Does anyone know off hand if Mitsubishi would charge to give the car a thorough check over?
