Should I jump ship?
Maxspeed3 - Best of luck getting into your Evo. I'm in a similar situation. I have an 09 Speed3 I'm trying to sell (it's in the Other Car F/S section), only I'm trying to get an Evo IX. Once you get to 15 posts, toss yours up and try to sell it yourself. You'll definitely get more than you would by trading it in. Good looking Speed btw.
Speed3 to Evo FTW!!

South Coast Mitsubishi here in Socal actually has 7 cars under 27K, all Evo X, with one black MR. the cheapest one is a gray 08 GSR with 97K on the clock for $21999. that would be right on the ballpark of your $350 per month. the black MR goes for about 24K.
Yea! its really tempting to get one. If you don't mind me asking how much is your insurance for the x? Mine for the speed is $560 for 6 months, and I have a clean record.... I'm assuming the evo will be higher.
I'm from Minnesota as well, picked up a IX this past June... just AWESOME!
If you're looking for an Evo, get ahold of Bobby at White Bear Mitsubishi/Suzuki in White Bear Lake, MN. Bobby owns a X and FIVE staff members own Evos at that particular dealership... they KNOW their Evos. I bought my IX second hand, but I did have the car inspected by them. They would be more than willing to help you out in any research or questions you have if you plan on going the Evo route...
Also, if you do some modifications, my opinion is have either Ron at RS Motors to help out with the modifying/tuning or Shane at DB Performance. MAP does some really great work as well, but come spring, i'm taking mine to Ron.
Good luck in your quest... If you do "make the switch" you're in for an awesome AWD ride!!!

I also had a speed3 but I went to a sti from it. The sti instilled way more confidence while driving it hard. The speed 3 was more fun in a way that it was way more dangerous. Not faster but it felt like it with the torque steer. With that said after driving the x the sti feels like junk. Handling and driving feel is great. But the speed 3 was still the most fun I have ever had in a car. But that could of Been because I was younger and all that junk. For what It's worth.
My previous was a 2010 ms3 and it was a fun car to drive. Feels fast due to the torque they have but too much torque steer. Good gas mileage for the hp it has and little road noise and engine noise.
Made the switch to a 12 WW GSR a few months ago and couldnt be happier. Better handling, bigger interrior space, meaner looking car. Only complaints I have about this car is the tiny trunk space.
I say make the switch and no more Fail Wheel Drive
