Hello all, name is chris. I currently own a 06 wrx with most of the normal stage 2 mods. I really love my car but the time has come for me to change for the better. After spending the last 4 years really getting to know about tracking and going to many many events, I have come to realize my subie is just not the direction for me. I mean there has to be a reason that the AWD records are mostly held by an EVO right? I have been really researching what car I would like to start my new venture in and I have come here.

I want to start going to the track at least once every 2 months if not every month. I know all the cost and what it takes. I decided to start looking for a platform that would best suit my needs and budget. So I have decided on a EVO 9 GSR 5speed (in white if i can find it).

I would like to ask if you can point me into the right direction of some good build up threads and info on these cars. I do most of my own work on every car I have owned except major work that require a lift and a lot of special tools. I am super strict on maintenance and up keep of every car I owned.

Looking forward to joining the community and getting out there more. Ultimate goal would be to earn my NASA wheel to wheel license.

Welcome. Since you're also in SoCal, it shouldn't be *too* difficult to find a white Evo IX within ~50 miles of you that fits your needs.

 

I think i need to search the forums more. There are none on craigslist or autotrader ... unless they are like 400+ hp already. I want to build the car from the ground up so looking for as stock as possible.

You can at least look on SCE to see what cars people are selling there, or even the Mitsubishi dealerships under Abbas' ownership (South Coast, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Victorville and I think Cerritos as well) since they've gone out of their way to acquire Evos and hook up the community throughout the years.

"As stock as possible" is just a little more difficult to find these days, however.
