What's up?
What's up?
First post here on these forums..
I'm almost done paying off my current car (e46 BMW), and once I do.. hello Evo world
I'm thinking about purchasing an Evo 8/9, whichever one I come across first that's got a nice price tag on it.
I'll be buying it from a dealer most likely.
I've been reading up on Evo's lately, and know what I have to look for, for the most part.
My buddy owns an Evo 8 MR so he'll help me out whenever I have questions.
Most likely, one of the first mods I'd be throwing on is an exhaust - Any exhaust mod suggestions for a nice, deep, sexy sound?
Eventually a bigger intercooler, HKS BOV, and probably a couple other things here and there.
I did have a few questions though.
1) How's the stock suspension? Is it rated better than most aftermarket springs you could purchase? I keep hearing different things, so I'm unsure.
2) It doesn't seem like they have to much fender clearance to fit wider wheels..
What could I fit? I think I read that the stock width is 8" with offsets of +35?
3) Can I lower my car an inch, run 245 tires all around on 8.5" or 9" wheels, and not rub with unrolled fenders? Would I have to roll and/or pull?
4) I know this motor is reliable. How reliable compared to, say, an F20 or F22 out of the S2K?
5)What's considered low miles for 03-05 models?
Stock Evo 8's at dealers here in North Seattle with 70-80k miles, run for $19-$24k.
^Is that a fair price?
I feel like the Evo is a bit over priced, as much as I love 'em.. although I don't mind at all, the interior paneling n' stuff isn't that great of quality, and it seems like all you're paying for is the motor, the AWD, and the cosmetic/exterior styling.
Chances are that those things won't stop me from buying one, but it's just a (newbie) observation.
