BOV questions

Okay, I've been reading almost every thread that I can find and all I'm looking for is a simple thread that can explain to me everything there is to know about an "X" and there BOV/DV system. What I want out of my BOV is it to have the ability to perform at top level, no leaks or anything. Also, I would like it to make the "flutter" noise or "high pitched blow off" rather than the normal "ppssshhh", no need to tell me about the ricer in me, its my car, you do your car however you like it. Thanks!

ok first of all flutter is not healthy for your turbo and if you want that high bird squeak its the hks ssqv bov but you will hear 2 different stories about this bov some ppl hate it some ppl love it. I have the HKS on my car for like 3 years and have never had a problem.
But unless your running higher then 25 psi on your X changing your bov is pointless unless you just want the sound.
Personally i would recommend get a Tial Q and call it a day

Flutter = Compressor Surge = Dead Turbo......Tial is good but I would recommend HKS if your looking for that specific sound.

You are asking for opposite things. It can't both be working correctly and making silly noises.

the evo is not designed to have vent to atmosphere valves.
those are running those and are currently "ok" is because they are either:

1. tuned for it, but still not performing 100%. or
2. need to get it tuned for it and nothing has gone wrong because the minor negative effect of it is not great enough to "blow an engine..... yet." (and no, reset the battery and let your ecu learn it for it does not mean it fixes it. it does not learn it.) Still not performing 100%.

keyword is YET!

you need to get an open air intake such as the AMS or ETS, then you will hear plenty of sound from the air circulation of your stock setup. (STILL NEEDS A TUNE).

edit:
you should google search "evo x blown engine" and read them ALL. You'll get the idea.

A Tial QR is going to be your best bet when it comes to performance, tried and true brand only downside they don't have a plug and play option for the evo platform. Also if you're looking for that noise you seek, check out the HKS SSQV. You usually can find them for around 100 dollars used and they work good as long as you find a genuine unit. As with everything you get what you pay for, a QR will run you about 200-250 dollars but I believe it is worth it. Whatever route you go make sure to buy a valve that has a recirc option.
