Just as the title says, wondering how Evos 8 and 9 are for longer drives?

Thanks

Awesome.

I've taken mine on a few. Nothing like a road trip in a fast car.

I loved it especially with all the room and the turbo spool noise on the highway.

Took mine on about a 700 mile road trip to HIN ft worth an I loved it, I was worried about no cruise control but didn't even notice it to be honest

Depends on what kind of roads you're driving. Highway = boring. Hilly and windy = Wicked awesome.

I drive to our holiday home a few times a year, 100 miles each way. The first half is highway cruising which doesn't do much for me but after the halfway point I enjoy it more than I should. A lot of ascents and descents and 15-30 mph (recommended speed) corners, not good for the MPG but it is what keeps me sane.

As for comfort? I have no complaints, it is as comfortable as any other car I've owned or driven long distance.

Noise? No complaints again, if you're cruising (depending on your choice of exhaust) there is nothing to worry about.

MPG? Uhhh.....Bad, unless you...no wait, it's all bad.

I have a few questions:

How loud/droney is your exhaust?
How stiff is your suspension?
How laggy is your turbo?

Any of these things could make your road trip awesome or terrible in my opinion. Depends what you like.

I drive my 8 often between Arizona and North Cali, the drive is about 11-12 hours. And let me tell you, I hate it. No cruise control =
Gas mileage sucks I can go on and on. If you are planing to travel a whole lot in your evo, make sure u get a MR.

I have not bought a car yet, i was just curious. I really want an evo, i just need to find the correct one. Looking for a good one for short drives yet long drives between college and home which is four + hours or longer trips. Thinking about an 8 or 9, scared of the mr because I heard the six speed transmission is sketchy

You should be good than, 4 hours isn't too bad w/o cruise. I don't see why you're scared of the MR, 6 speed is great for freeways

I drove my X over 3,000 miles and loved every minute... except for the bug juice all over the front end

But then again the X's have cruise control

I've enjoyed my Evos on roadtrips. I've driven both my IX and X cross-country multiple times. The longest in my IX was 2,200 miles circling the Great Lakes.

I'm just being an ***, but personally the longest I've ever taken my IX has been about 300 miles one way to the track.

It's only sitting on MR bilstiens and swift spec-r springs so it's not that bad. I'm sure on the stock KYBs it would probably be much more manageable.
