Talking EVO noobie here!

Hey guys, i want to start out introducing myself, my names Ryan, and i live in NC. Im very new to evo's but not mitsubishi in general. i use to own a eclipse GST with few tasteful mods nothing major. I currently have a 2004 Dodge neon srt-4. Im selling my SRT-4 because i have a broken rod and very low compression in all cylinders (70-80 to be exact) and i have some money saved from taxes and work.To sum it all up im going to buy a new car and its going to be AWD. I thought i have had my mind set on a 04-07 subaru wrx sti. But after seeing the problems my brother has had with his (on his 3rd motor in a fully built wrx) and my friends im really considering going for an evo 8 or evo 9 mitsubishi evolution. My frend has a evo 9, nothing major stock turbo tuned, i drove it and it pulls smooth and feel pretty good. I was just wondering what information you guys could give to a noobie about an evo 8 or 9. what to watch out for ( i plan on getting a 5 speed cause i heard 6 speeds suck) such as timing belts breaking or such as subaru has some ringland issues anything like that with a evo. Im not wanting to make a ****load of power, just a meer realiable 350-400, i may want more along down the road but thats another story. i plan on taking the car to get overlooked at a reputable tuneing shop for leaks or wear and compression checked. Whats most different between evo 8 and 9. Thanks all!!
