Looking to finance an Evo 9.
Hey guys, Ive always wanted an Evo and since im getting a good tax refund check this year I might be able to finally get one. I don't have alot of cash to just purchase one so im thinking of financing it with putting some down. My budget is 20k and Im actually looking for an Evo 9 MR with less than 70k miles on it preferably white color. Ive found some here in NY but they all belong to private seller. I have also been to some dealerships but no luck, so I thought I might post it here to see if you guys know any place where I might be able to get one.
Thank you for your concern.

Most banks will still finance a car even if it's from a private seller. It does usually requires some extra jumping through hoops on your part but can be done. I would suggest talking it over with a few banks and see what they require.
What part of New York are you in? Im in Rochester and purchased mine back in September. I looked for two months solid and couldn't find any in decent shape/reasonably priced around here. Most of them were in the philly/jersey area.
I ended up giving auction direct a shot and they found me a completely stock 9 MR w. 50k on it. Im chalking that up to pure luck though. Not sure if you have one near you, but they actually search for the vehicle you want based on your criteria you give them. It took them about 3 weeks to find me one I liked. Its something to think about. My buddy just bought a 9 monday, but he had to fly to illinois and drive it back.
Just be prepared to search and travel!

well in that case i'll start checking out some private listings too.
I live in Queens. I guess i'll try them too, I don't mind traveling if I can find a decent one from another state.

True, I found many but some are heavily abused, some got alot of miles, I mean i can't find the perfect one so I guess im gonna have to compromise.
^+1, I've both purchased & sold a set of IX's through evoM. It's actually a great tool since you can easily get some history on the car by checking the owners' old post(s).
I financed by IX about a year ago through Bank of America with a loan for a private sale transaction. Some institutions have a limitation of 5-7 year from production year for which BofA has a 7yr rule. Chase has a 5 year rule.
So technically 2013 would be the last year to get a loan for a Private Sale. The transaction is rather easy with the bank and as long as you're dealing with a good seller, then it should be a piece of cake.
And don't shy away from picking one up out-of-state becuase it makes the drive home that mmuch more special!
Good luck in your search!

Be prepared to travel. I feel like I repeat myself some times in these threads but it's so true. I'm from CT, I bought mine from NY. Webster, to be exact if that puts it into perspective about how far I went. I didn't have any trouble financing mine, although they wouldn't really budge on the amount of years they would give me the loan for. I was pretty much stuck with what they offered me.
As far as a private seller, you can still get approved and financed. You just have to talk to banks and see what they are willing to offer. I know my personal bank requires a certain amount of money down before the financing. A lot of people say credit unions are the best way to go (which ironically is what my Evo is financed through) since they are a little more lenient when it comes to loans and times. One of my friends financed her TSX through a credit union and had no issues, even though she tried other places and they all said no because the TSX was "x" years old and they said it was "to old" to finance. You just have to know where to look and what banks to try.
