Why do people use the ebrake when launching?

So just like the title saids, I see people holding the ebrake just for a quick second or two and letting go of the clutch. Is this some time of power train loading? Why?

Yup. To get all the mating surfaces to mesh up as close as possible.

Pte loads the drive train so you don't break/ over stress the drive train on launch. Plus it leads to better 60fts for some reason at least for me

What has been said is all true. I have tried it mulitple times but fail to get the damn brake down everytime I make a pass. Ive made a few passes with the ebrake engaged just a bit haha. I need to try a little trick a buddy told me, ductape the button down on the brake, that way all I have to do is hold it up, and slam it down upon the launch haha

I just hold the button in while its up and then just slam it down. No need for tape

Yeah, the way I have heard it described is to hold the car on the two step with the ebrake all the way engaged, and feather the clutch out just until you can barely feel it catching. You dump the ebrake and the car should start moving a touch, at which point you sidestep the clutch fast and get a nice hard launch.

So you guys dont use the 2 step ? Just rev the car to desired rpm and hold the E-brake.

^^^^^^ never mind I get it!

exactly sir well said. i just started using this method last drag season and my worst launch on street tires was a 1.81 and the best being aa 1.63. once you get it down it really does help alot and is better for the drivetrain

I'm pretty sure you don't need a video..

As you are letting the clutch pedal out, put the e-brake down. Do it Simultaneously..
