How to properly turn off my Evo IX?

I have a question. How do i properly turn off my evo ix because i wait for awhile for the turbo to cool down and when i turn off the ignition the engine stays running for awhile before it eventually turns off. Is this normal? Does the computer know when the turbo has cooled down enough and turns off by itself? Or is it something wrong im doing i dont want to mess up my engine.

did you buy it from a private seller that installed an aftermarket alarm? some car alarms come with a timer feature built it. normally you have to activate that feature, but it can be set to do it automatically. i like having a button to press when i wanna let it run for a set amount of time.

Sounds like there is some timer built into your car.
Like a turbo timer.
Stock Lancer Evolutions wont keep running after you shut off the car, so there most likely is one on your car somewhere.

Yes i got it from a private dealer. All i know it was the owners son and he invested alot in it. I think it is a turbo timer because it has a gauge and a little box a defi link system idk how that works. It says warn set, play, up and down set, peak, and record. Also has a manual boost controller but i dont move any of that until i know wat it is and until i have it tuned.

Ohhh wow you have a nice little gauge set up there.
Its pretty pricey so congrats on the score.
However neither that or the manual boost controller has a turbo timing function.
The little Defi Link system is for the gauges only.
Set the warning level of the gauges, play recorded data, record data.
That stuff.
I might be wrong since I dont own such an awesome system, but I am for most certain that the Defi Link does not have a turbo timer feature.

This kind of made me chuckle. You bought the car modified, man. That's why you ask questions before purchasing it and scaring yourself like you just did

Agreed! As soon as he said he turns off the ignition and it still runs... thats def a turbo timer.

OP: You should get the mod list from the dealership/private person that sold it to you. Find out what other goodies you got in there.

To properly turn off, please wear itchy pajamas and large, unnatractive underwear. You're welcome!

Defiantely a turbo timer installed. Drop your ebrake if the car shuts off then you no question you have one. And then take your center console out where you e brake is and follow the e brake sensor wire and if anything is connected and follow to turbo timer.

I'm putting my money on an alarm with turbo timer function. Usually people put the turbo timer controller where it is visible. Unless it's in the glovebox, or the little cubby to the left of your legs (had mine in there for a while). Any how good luck finding it!

As others stated definitely a turbo timer the defi link and gauges have nothing to do with this as I have these in my car myself.
