VTA vs RECIRC

Seriois question, is there any REAL reason to run a VTA setup or a recirculated one? After all my search all it seems peole want them for is sound...but on a perforamce standpoint a recirculated one is the way to go, right?

On maf your car will run better with a recirculated as it accounts for the air flow being reused.

On sd most people run vta because its lauder i think i am going to change to a sd set up and still run my tial qr just take the pipe off that recirculates the air and have it vent out.

Well in my experience with DSM's, without SD, a vented setup normally makes the car run like crap.. Idles wildly and dies between shifts.. But thats not always the case. It can also cause compressor surge with is also not good at all.. A turbo killer.

No reason. Cars run both ways at varying performance levels with no issues.

Maf offers true airflow metering. Which is a plus in my book. However sd runs very well and a good tuner is all that matters

^ as long as you run recirc on a maf its fine. I run sd because it always for more custom setup... A good tuner can tune the quirks out of either setup... But running maf vta is a bad idea... Especially if you like hard cornering... My car used to shut off all the time cornering... You either muscle it around the corner without ps... Or you pop the clutch and chance loosing traction. Neither is a good option so stick to recirc with a maf

the higher the HP the more benefit you see switching to SD the saying goes. Some people subscribe to this train of thought (Belief is MAF becomes a restriction after certain HP levels) and their are those that say SD isnt worth it on a street drive vehicle.

So how much can you expect to get out of the stock maf before you gotta make the switch...~500hp? And how hard expensive is it?

Keep you maf and Vent into the atmosphere. After 750 WHP then think of a stand alone. It isn't worth it and do NOT VTA, bad for the car with a MAF.

Unless anyone has the idea, i dont want to VTA for the ricer sound. Simply wanna know which is better for more power, thats all. Disadvantages to a sd setup.

As long as the BOV isn't leaking then no power is lost. If anything venting back into the intake back into the turbo keeps it spooled a lil more between shifts not to mention the metered air getting the proper amount of fuel so the car doesn't get insanely rich and stubble on it's face.
