First Evo

Looking at getting my first Evo. I drive a dodge magnum SRT8 and american muscle is my first love although i am no stranger to import (learned to drive a stick on porsche 911s and bmw m3). Wanted an STI for my first car but i never got anything because i never had a really good job until now and i now realize evo's are better than sti's. Been doing alot of looking and still having a hard time deciding between an evo x and a cts-v. Guess whatever i find the best deal on and what catches my eye is what i will pull the trigger on. If you have a Evo for about the 20k range let me know and maybe we can work something out.

CTS-V and an Evo are night and day. I'd drive the CTS if I were going on long interstate trips or had a huge commute, whereas I prefer the Evo for a short commute and twisty roads. The CTS is a touring car that happens to have a ton of power. The Evo isn't comfortable (compared to a CTS,) but it's not uncomfortable by any means. Also the Evo is 1/2 the price of a CTS-V!

Thats a big reason that i was looking at the Evo was price. Big hp in those cars comes with a price. And yes i have driven a cts and enjoy them and i also fit in them nicely, but i have never been in an evo. would i have a problem getting in and out being a bigger guy? 6'3 250?

6'4 - 260, I don't even have the seat all the way back and I still have plenty of room.

I work at a mitsubishi and we are also part of Cadillac and I can assure you that you are not comparing apples to apples. The CTS-V is a rear wheel drive 556 horsepower "luxury" car. CTS-V new are around 70k new. Used CTS-V's that we sell normally come certified, and that is you best bet up to 100k Miles warrante. As far as the Evo, I am a EVO owner personaly and the car is awsome and new your looking around 32k for a base GSR. It is quite fun the CTS-V will scare the crap out of you when your going 93 in 3rd gear knowing that there are still 3 more gears. The EVO on the other hand is an animal of its own and will throw you back in your seat and let you take turns faster than the CTS-V will let you. Id say drive both but as for fun I chose an evo because I live in CT and we do have winter and the CTS-V is not fun whatsoever to drive in rain and you wont be leaving your house in the snow.

haha guess thats why i joined this forum so i could be thoroughly convinced to get one. Glad to know im going to have plenty of room in there and able to enjoy the car without being smooshed in there. Gas milage is also night and day between them. See guys on here saying they are getting an average of 20 mpg driving pretty hard. Driving a caddy hard you might be lucky to get 10 or 12

I don't get why people consistantly say the Evo is not comfortable. I drove mine for almost 7 hours when I picked it up and I was perfectly fine. Maybe it's because I'm tiny and the seats are bigger than I am but I think it's by far one of the more comfortable cars to drive in. The STi is TERRIBLE, so is the M3 (just comparing to other cars I've been in road trips in). I don't know. I suppose I'm different than most people but I consider it more comfortable than my daily on longer trips.

Anyways, like other people have said. Those cars are 2 completely different entities. I know somebody that has a CTS-V and while he enjoys it he said he wishes he went something a little more on the sporty side than luxury.

I totally agree, I think the Evo X is very comfortable. I daily drive mine and constantly have passengers and not once has anyone complained of the ride. It drives like a sports car should. Obviously the Evo x will not be as comfortable as the CTS-V since that's more luxury oriented.

Exactly. I've had passengers plenty of times say that my car is super comfortable and could fall asleep (and they have). I do agree about the CTS-V. They are actually really comfortable to sit in haha
