My dilemma, future EVO owner.

Hello, I am new to the Evo scene, but not new at all to the sport compact scene. My dilemma in this next week is to choose between a EVO 9 MR practically stock for 19,998 with 98k miles or a EVO 9 SE with bronze work emotions, as well as 3inch exhaust and seems to have a aftermarket radio and a few aftermarket gauges for 19,499 with 91K.

Any suggestions? They are both 2006 and both in great condition. I just saved up 5K and will go towards my down payment next week. I just would like to get some feed back. I did use the search button and read the comparisons, but i feel everyones situation is unique. So, feed back? or bash me? lol

Thanks in advance.

SN: I am super excited to be finally owning one of my dream cars as well as owning a classic to the sport compact scene.

I'd say go MR. That's what I drive and has a proper 6 speed that is fine as long as it isn't abused. Does it have BBS wheels still? Check for past mods. A tell tale sign is its missing the under tray. The MR I believe has an aluminum roof. The SE has a classic 5 speed better for drag racing but not much else. The 6 speed has an advantage from a roll for sure and highway crushing the 6th gear really helps. The SE has a better stereo but I'd still go MR.

I would buy the Evo 9 SE. The 5 speed is a lot stronger than the 6 spd. There is a reason some MR owners switch to the 5 spd tranny. The interior is way nicer in the SE than the MR and you also getting a set of nice looking wheels and lower mileage.

I would do the MR I had an 2006 one loved it but then I switched to a 2008 GSR really enjoyed the car it comes with the better suspension and the generator and for the roof I believe both cars has the aluminum roof and for the trans the 6 speed is weaker but it all depends on what your wanting to do with it

yes the MR still has the BBS wheels on it. It also has the beautiful MR Gray which i like way better than the black. I believe they both have the aluminum roof though. Its so hard to decide!!!!!!!!!!!

The 6 speed is fine, just don't abuse it. I run 460WHP through mine. That 5 speed is just too limiting for me. Graphite Gray Vs Black is no Contest.

I feel like for those miles and the price they are asking, I would pass. I bought mine for a tad bit more than you (05 MR) with 21K miles on it. BUT since it is your money and your decision, I would go with the lower mileage MR. Just be really picky and look the car over a million times if you have to. Some people don't like the 6 speed but if you drive it fine and don't abuse it, you will be ok. I don't see the huge issue with it. If you see something you don't like on the car, move on.

GG is sex, i love the color, but the black is so sleek and the interior is so much nicer. Hard decision -__-

I feel ya, trust me. I literally was counting down the days until I could finally start looking for an Evo. The best advice I could give you would to just be patient, even though it's hard. I couldn't tell you how many I would see and I would look more into them and they were literally **** boxes that I wouldn't even spend $500 on. Whether your spending $15K to 30K, your still spending a good chunk of change on something, and again, if it's not perfect to you, move on. There will be more out there.

I went today to go check out the GG MR, and it was a **** box. The ad was for 19400, when i went to ask the guy how much it was he said 23500. Inside smelt like cigarettes and the interior was in bad shape. So, now im back on the search. I am narrowed down to EVO IX, EXO X, OR....the IS350.

Well, then it just wasn't meant to be. Now you have a little bit more time to look for one you actually want instead of rushing into one. Good luck!
