Back in the US! Finally with my Evo!

So I came home from Afghanistan on Monday. Surprised the wife and kids as I was supposed to be home today. It was even on Univision for my Spanish Evo'ers.

Got home to a garage full of parts. I figured I'd just tinker with some easy stuff yesterday as I wanted to spend time with the wife and the kids had school. So, I installed the ETS intake, Eibach springs, and Eibach rear sway bar. Since I had to get an alignment, I figured it'd be a good time mount the Work Kiwami's on some new 265 tires.

Below is a pic of the car -- sorry for the crappy pic -- South Florida already starting to rain!

My initial impressions so far:

Maybe I'm old, fat, or just forgot about my 06 Evo MR but the seats are definitely snug! Not that I'm complaining too much as they really hold me but definitely snug!

For a $36K car, Mitsu still likes to skimp on the interior. The dash is definitely rental car-esque.

I'm really enjoying the power and the handling! Just like old times but I think even better! I'm sure I'll have more to add once it's tuned after the FMIC, exhaust, and fuel pump.

Welcome back man and thanks for your service. I am fat so I will say the seats are very snug. I agree the interior looks kind of cheap however it looks ok on the 12-13's with the SL package. I wasnt a fan of the carbon fiber trim and am glad they switched to the piano black

Thanks everyone.

Yeah Ken...I love the seats...Definitely solid but snug. The piano black is reminiscent of my Mazdaspeed3 which I like...but, even though it's played out, I am a fan of carbon fiber interior pieces. I'm thinking of getting a few things to spice it up.

I'm getting worried about the installs. I'm not in my 20's anymore so I hate wrenching ALL DAY...a few hours...cool...all day...not so much!

Downpipe -- Blah!
Gauges -- Blah -- not because it's hard but I'm a stickler for perfection and the Rexspeed piece looks "eh".
Shifter/bushings -- AHH! Look a little more involved than what it should be. But I'm sure it'll feel great.

Everything else seems fairly normal but the crunch time is on -- I've got to finish everything by next Friday to get tuned at AWD Motorsports. Ready for callouses and busted knuckles!

Did you ever do the shifter bushings on your Mazda? It's a piece of cake, i had a 2010 mazdaspeed 3 as well. And, I did the bushings in under an hour. It can't be much different.
