Harsh stock ride question

i've been reading on the forum for the past few weeks now. it seems for a fact that the evo has a harsh ride. my question is: with a new suspension setup (coilovers, springs, eg. teins ss), wouldnt the evo's harsh ride be alot better than before?

First, I personally don't think it's a 'harsh' ride. I've driven the Evo on trips as long as 700 miles, and felt GOOD after, compared to previous cars making me feel 'drained'.

Secondly, coilovers, depending on the spring rate is 'supposed' to make the ride more stiff. I have a friend, however, that just installed a customized set of JIC coilovers on his STI, and he said the comfort level actually rose.

It all comes down to personal preference, in my honest opinion...

Hope this helped (I'm sure it just added to the confusion!)

hmm... you're the first one that says that it is a decent ride. from what i've read up on, the evo is much more punishing than the sti. this, and 2 other issues: poor gas mileage and security were the few issues that i had about the evo. any other comments?

it is a lil rough. Coming from a CL, it will def be a difference. And to echo what was said above, alternate springs/coilovers usually give a harsher ride
