So, in all interests, i love the evo 9. Thing is, how can you love something that you know so little about, right? I mainly want to know this, what faults are on the evolution 9 that i may need to prepare myself for?

it being fun, they you get bored of it so you spend money and make more power/better handling, then you get bored again then spend more money for more power /better handling and repeat..... its a disease that you cant cure .. haha

but in all honesty , if it has a factory clutch, and you beat on it quite often and drive hard, youll need a new one sooner than you think. so kinda prepare for that.. act 6 puck is great replacment for street driving and holds great power

and also how many miles does it have? if under 60k prepare for the 60k servicing, new timing belt, pulleys,tensioner and water pump. STM or gates sell a kit for that if youd like to go that route. if over 60k, has it had its 60k service done?

best word of advice, research everything before you buy it or mod anything, itll save you alot of time and money.

* Not cheap to maintain
* Not cheap to insure
* Thirsty in daily driving and in spirited driving, decent all-highway mpg
* Might get you into trouble if you can't control your right foot
* Not the nicest interior, if that is a priority to you

thanks a lot guys. it does seem pricey too. a turbocharged car isn't easy to maintain and my cousins experienced that first hand while I was there on the sidelines, ahahaa. it's great to know that I can get info from you guys, so thanks a bunch. still working on buying one but the only thing holding me back is the constant maintenance, ahaa. we'll see how far I go as to getting one. specifically the ninth gen though.

They hold their value like a **** so orepare to soend money to get one that's in good shape however I've owned multiple turbo cars and its as reliable as the person who owned it. If they maintained it properly the 4gg motor is one of the best motors you can find.

Turbocharged cars, specifically Evos, are easy to maintain, if you keep it stock or fairly close to stock (meaning just bolt-ons and stuff like that), though it's definitely not cheap. It's just that it's best to not fall behind on the required maintenance. In the end, it's not quite as bad as you think, unless you are coming from a history of neglecting your cars.

Once you accept the fact that you are using synthetic oil (which you may or may not already be doing with your current vehicle) and have to change the driveline fluids once a year or so and then the serpentine belt once every two years or so, it doesn't seem that out of the ordinary. But if stuff starts breaking, that's a different story.
