In search of my first evo

Im finally at the point in my life where I can own my dream car. Feels good to work hard for what you want! Anyways I have my eyes on this GG 05 MR. Has 110K on it, aftermarket exahaust, suspension and some more mods. The only thing I'm worried about is the 6 speed transmission. I don't know if those were 110 hard miles being that its used. I did test drive the car and it was fine. Has a staged clutch, tranny shifted fine no grinds ect. So let me know what you guys think about it...

Hi and welcome! I fixed your link which was missing a couple tags and suggest unless you're a competent mechanic take the car to a trusted shop and have them inspect the car. Also, I did remove your second duplicate thread as we ask members to not duplicate (cross post) the same content across forums. Thanks!

Keep in mind that at 120k miles it will need the service which consists of the timing belt.
Looks clean but I'm curious what type of suspension is being used and there's no pic of the engine bay.

Good luck with it.

yeah, get it inspected by a shop that knows evo's.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 6-spd.

i checked it out and it had a MBC in the engine bay, aftermarket radiator and exhaust manifold, and intake. Pulled nice for what it was. Gonna have my friend come with me to look at it. He has a evo 8 with some mods to it. What do you guys think about the price?

If you use Facebook ask to join northwest evo and pm me your name so we know who to approve to the group. Decent chance that if the car has been around the area one of us knows some of the history of the car.

It may also need a new water pump, as it's recommended at that time. But it doesn't cost much more to swap that out if you're already going to have the timing belt service done anyway, but it's just something to keep in mind. It shouldn't add more than $100-150, which isn't that big of a deal when you're already paying for a 60k/120k mile service anyway. I just had my mechanic do it anyway when I had my 60k mile service done last year.

Pm sent.

And yeah I know the 120K service is coming up on it. Might as well replace the water pump on it since the timing belt is going to be replaced anyways. How much are you guys paying for your maintanence service at shop's?

Good luck with your purchase. I'm also looking to buy an MR, I will be bringing it to a local shop for a thorough inspection.
