From MKIV Supra Turbo to Evo

Hey all, just looking for any advice/anyone that has gone from a MKIV Supra Turbo to an Evo. This is my plan for the winter, going to be getting rid of my Supra in the next few weeks. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Thanks!

There's a lot of positives to goto evo from supra, BUT I doubt many would do that. The supra is a legend.

I personall think the supra is nice and and all but it's too old. I could not buy one just for that reason. Maybe as a project car. The evo you can get new and unmolested. Plus you have a car that isn't 15 years old. I traded in a 450hp camaro for my evo and the awd and 4 doors is great. Haven't looked back once.

Wait, never mind, I just noticed you are looking at evo I through ix. I would keep the supra lol.

I have owned 2 97 supra 6 speeds and now own an Evo VIII. I only sold them because I was getting stationed in Germany (where inspections are really strict) and I have 3 kids. If it wasnt for that reason, then I would still have them. The handling is better in the Evo but the lack of power kills it for me (but coming from a 1000hp supra doesnt help much either. lol). Clean supras are getting harder to come by but I will own another supra when I get back.

The only real PRO that I see to owning an evo is that since the platform is newer, then there are still OEM parts readily available at the dealerships. AS opposed to the supra, where most body parts and interior parts are discontinued so if a fender bender was to happen, then you would have to source a used part or go aftermarket.

The evo is not a bad car to own but I wouldnt sell my supra for it.

The supra is a gem but I think the evo has many pros. The handling, the AWD that you can drive the evo in any weather any terrain and it's just a more versatile car and more uses for it where as the supra is more of a muscle car of imports. I bet nothing beats being behind the wheel of a bad supra, though.

Evo may not be as easy to make 1000whp but its something that can be done. It also has more Pros....its AWD so most weather conditions can be tackled unlike the supra. 4 door sedan so room for others is always a plus.

Maybe its just me....the supra is badass and alll....but the GTR takes the cake. Supra was once the boss of Japanese imports but the GTR has taken the title. I mean look how long it took to get a full streetable GTR into the 7s in the United states. If you would consider keeping the Supra for the power it can make you should also consider a GTR as an option...or Just get Evo and be happy too

THIS X100000. I'm tired of evo x guys saying the 4b11 isn't as good as the 4g63 because they haven had enough time, LOOK AT THE GTR!!! That thing is the best Japanese car to get. It beats ANYTHING, also r34>supra

I was looking at Supras and R34 GTRs (among others) when I bought my evo.

They were all priced similarly (R34 was at the higher end) but the fact is they are different cars and if I had got something other than an evo I would probably have traded in by now. Not because I think the evo is a superior vehicle but it has everything I need and want and the others don't.

OP, what makes you interested in the evo platform?

Yes, the supra does have a pretty durable motor. AWD.... depends on the person, I personally prefer RWD as it is much more fun. As for the "streetable" GTR, it depends on what you mean by streetable. There has also been a 7 second 6 speed supra that is streetable as well. REGARDLESS, 7's is impressive in any platform. Technology has come so far since the introduction of the MKIV supra, so the GTR is def at an advantage. With that said, the GTR goes high 10's-high 11's in stock form due to that technology. So yes, touching the 7 second range is def achievable.

Anyways, lets not turn this thread into a "which car is better". The OP asked for advise from people that HAVE or HAVE OWNED an MKIV supra and has gone to an evo, so I inputted my experience. OP if you have any specific questions on the 2 platforms, feel free to ask or send me a PM.

That's where he evo shines IMO. It's just the best ALL-AROUND car I feel, but he r34 is untouchable.
