Definitely one of the things I look forward to. As it is, my Supra doesnt have ABS OR Traction Control -_-

Plus you have a car that isn't 15 years old. I traded in a 450hp camaro for my evo and the awd and 4 doors is great. Haven't looked back once.

Wait, never mind, I just noticed you are looking at evo I through ix. I would keep the supra lol.
-This is the exact reason I'm thinking about doing this...I've run in to ALOT of headaches with my Supra that I really didnt want to deal with that were all related to the age of the vehicle (20 years old!) I love the car, dont get me wrong buttt I have alot of other hobbies and I'm not a fan of headache.

If it wasnt for that reason, then I would still have them. The handling is better in the Evo but the lack of power kills it for me (but coming from a 1000hp supra doesnt help much either. lol). Clean supras are getting harder to come by but I will own another supra when I get back.

The only real PRO that I see to owning an evo is that since the platform is newer, then there are still OEM parts readily available at the dealerships. AS opposed to the supra, where most body parts and interior parts are discontinued so if a fender bender was to happen, then you would have to source a used part or go aftermarket.

The evo is not a bad car to own but I wouldnt sell my supra for it.
Thanks for the input Joe! Definitely something to consider. By the way, Happy Veterans Day, and thank you for serving!!

They were all priced similarly (R34 was at the higher end) but the fact is they are different cars and if I had got something other than an evo I would probably have traded in by now. Not because I think the evo is a superior vehicle but it has everything I need and want and the others don't.

OP, what makes you interested in the evo platform?
The biggest thing that makes me like this is that the car was made for a reason other than going brutally fast. It has a pretty awesome race history too, some heritage that the Supra doesn't have much of. Only thing I don't love is the 4Door.

Your gonna love the practicality of 4 doors, big trunk, very good rear passenger space(I'm tall and sit with seat ALL the way back and can stil fit a newborn baby seat behind me) and still only weigh 3300ish

I'm not sure what you mean by real evo. I had an evo VIII for about 7 years before I upgraded to an evo x. The X is better in almost every way.

Not trying to argue or turn this into X vs VIII/IX just stating my opinions. It's better at being comfortable and has more aiding electronics to help the handling. That's ALL. It's heavy, slower, the engine is nowhere near as stout and even the "upgraded" interior is cheap. I think its a cool car and all but all it does better is handle, and you can thank AYC for that. Compare it to a jdm IX and this comparison is over quickly. To me the real Evos were the 1-9 the X was the compromise car that tried to fit in with everything else. With all that being said, I do WANT an X for a daily.

I almost bought a X 2 years ago. I test drove it and it didnt feel as "solid" as the VIII and IX for whatever reason. Granted all of the VIII and IX models i've driven were upgraded and the X was at a dealer. All great cars though at the end of the day. Keep in mind the 4B11 is alot newer than the 4G63 so there are still things to be discovered and manufactured for it. Personally I like the looks of the V-IX the best, but that has nothing to do with what car is better, just what I like more.

Thanks again to everyone who has input on this for me!

Same, I'm just and older evo guy and I'm sure your gonna wanna squeeze some good power out of that evo since you had a supra and you'll have an easier/more reliable time doing that in a 4g63 car. Good luck with your search

Evo's are more practical IMO. I always wanted a Supra but with so much snow in New York it makes AWD a winner.

Let me chime in a bit,
I've owned a fully built widebody Supra, and actually sold it for a nice mint EVO. The supra was fantastic, pretty reliable, comfortable, and looks to die for. However, Since it was an old car, I felt as if I was in going to do a major overhaul at any time for a ton of parts. Thousands and thousands just to get it back to a normal reliable car. The lack of back space was a bit of problem and was a very tight squeeze for people in the back, almost impossible. DRiving in the rain was very scary with the supra, I thought many times I was going to crash. Also, I love to race, and hooking in the supra was a bit tough on street tires.
I wanted 4 doors, AWD, and massive power, So i bought a low mileage 700hp EVO. The EVO was fantastic, Power that hooks, comfortable for people in the back, great looks ( i had widebody) , but Ran into problems by choosing the wrong mechanic shop which screwed me over on my entire car.

I know exactly where your coming from in terms of supra to evo. Many people thought I was crazy to sell the supra for a nice EVO. BUt, they didn't understand that Unless you have a very very very well kept supra running in tip top shape, an EVO def. sounds like a better and wiser choice! Cars are meant to be enjoyed, not busy worrying about whether its going to fall apart or not or get you from point a to point b.

Mint, mid mileage supras that are well kept are where its at!! but you are def. paying a premium for this kind of condition, 34k-50k

Lol, who cares I personally don't think either car is better than the other. Thread isn't really worth starting. Just decide which suits you best op. Start with purpose, function (for what you will be using the car for) and finally form (whichever car you think looks better) it's all personal. Youl get a thousand different opinions on the net and it will just confuse you more lol
