New to Evo
New to Evo
Hey all, I'm new to the Evo seen and i'm trading my STI in on an Evo X. Just curious what mods i should do first. I really want a good tbe and cai plus a good fmic. any input would be greatly appreciated
Sup man. I am in Wellsboro, just a couple hours away from you in PA. First thing I did was get an intake and exhaust. Then a tune. AMS seems to be one of the better brands in my opinion. Exhaust is pretty much your own taste in sound and looks. FYI though, Tomei is kinda loud.
what companies should i go with? i was looking at the ARK DT-S catback, do i need a test pipe and a dowpipe or just a downpipe? Sorry if that's a stupid question, i'm used to subarus and i finally switched to an evo.
You really don't NEED a downpipe on the stock turbo. I would recommend a test pipe and cat back, and as was said, a 3 port, intake and tune. Brand is up to you, AMS is good, ETS is good, there are many good brands out there depending what you want to spend.
Go see Chad at CBRD in York for your work and dyno tune, you won't be disappointed.

Agreed on the downpipe. I staved off installing mine until I went with a larger turbo. It doesn't really increase horsepower but does free up power by relieving the restrictions the stock piece imposes.
The ARK DT-S is a beautiful piece. As said before, it really comes down to aesthetic and aural appeal.

It is the solenoid that controls boost. The stock boost controller becomes more unstable (it's not strong enough) once you start increasing boost. The 3-port solenoid allows faster and more stable increases.
To you it will enable safe boost increasing and allows your tuner to make more acute changes to boost mapping - this can benefit you with faster turbo spool-up and decrease wastegate duty cycles.
