Should I buy this evolution VIII for $13.5k, Clean title?.... UPDATED WITH NEW CAR!!!

I have found an Evo VIII for sale that is decently close to me. Here is the description and the best pictures I could get of the car. Yes, this one may be $13.5k as well. Looks alot less "childrenized" and beat to sh*t as the other car I had listed. Let me know what yal think!

2003 Lancer EvolutionVIII 2.OL DOHC 16V4-CYL MPI I/C T/C
4 DOOR SEDAN -- COLOR- WEIGHTLESS WHITE

Hate to do it but its time to let go of my Evo. Im not in no Hurry to sell so Lowballers please stay .

Its a 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution with only 58k Miles on it . The car has never been in a wreck i have a clean and clear carfax in hand to show anyone who is really interested. My Evo is Mint it has always been maintained regularly. Everything works in the car AC/HEAT/PS,PW,PL. ETC. The Evo runs very strong and healthy, It has a couple aftermarket parts installed .

Mods: Greddy Full Exhaust , Greddy Testpipe, Greddy Downpipe, Aem TRU Boost Controller, Aem Eugo Wideband , EVO X GSR Wheels with brand new tires, BC racing Full Coilovers, CF Intake,
JDM EVO 9 Taillights, Front Rallisport Lip,

Alarm System: Keyless Remote with sensitive sensors installed along with Trunk Release , and Remote Start.

Has little dings here and their nothing major. Check engine light is on for secondary 02 sensor because I have the wideband connected. It has current Emissions from July with current tags until 2015.

Every panel of the car has the original VIN number on it nothing has ever been changed the car is in Excellent conditions for a 2003.

KBB retail is $22,860
Private Party $20,260 Excellent
Fair condition $18,310
So Im posting my EVO way below KBB .

Cash is King but i will consider trades for The same KBB value as my car nothing less unless cash is being added on top. Only reason im selling is because my family just got alil bigger and my wife is making me sell it . Dont have to sell it but would like to get a decent trade for a Family SUV or Truck with the same value as my vehicle.

The car has absolutely no problems . Runs and drives Great . Interior is 9/10 Im sure Im forgetting a lot of things

first impression. he seems to have done a few cheap mods that he could have spent a little more money on more quality parts. The clutch was replaced at 60k miles and 3rd grinds. I'd say this car was beat more than usual and you should stay away.

Any other opinions? I did talk him down to $13.5K, but did not drive it as it is a few hours away.

I agree with 06ebevo that it probably has been beat on. Keep in mind to have Jack's Transmissions in Colorado Springs rebuild the trans you can figure at least $1000, may need a better clutch $700-1500 and if you have to pay someone to do it the labor will probably be between $500-800 just to remove and replace trans. So figure spending possibly another $2500 on top of the purchase price.

No I just happened to see it today because I live in Santa Fe. I was trying to see if the guy would sell the jam bumper but he wanted 800 even tho I showed him places to get them for less.

Did you drive it? He may not be being quite honest with you. Don't make a decision based on pics when you see an ix for that cheap. Usually a high mileage 2003 will be priced at that. So seems kinda shady. I personally would not touch an evo for that cheap rather save up some more and not stress myself out afterwords. Clean title doesn't mean clean evo.

Yeah, inexpensive deals on cars can be sketchy! Before I make the trip down there, id definitely pay to have the car checked out. I know a good amount of how STOCK single turbo'd vehicles work, just anything passed stock is a bit passed me. But Im getting more and more turned off this vehicle, which might save me some hear ache in the end. Thanks for y'alls advice!

Not saying this car can't be a good buy(it may very well be) but I bought my 2005 evo VIII with 100k and basic mods(quality parts) for 14.7k

I think it's a steal if the car drives well. That car with those miles is worth ABOUT 10k more, and I'm not exaggerating. Anything that needs to be fixed shouldn't be too heavy on the wallet. I would go check it out.

In every case, seller is Stupid.
