I have the CC stage 4 6 puck.

I'm at 420 TQ and I DD it. I'm not great at launching either, but I've only done it a handful of times. I have over 60K miles on mine. It doesn't appear to be giving up any time soon.

I think I'll be pulling the engine to build it before it goes out. I will be getting a full face stage 3.5. I don't like the 6 puck. It's very grabby.

I also hear the 6 puck doesn't last as long but damn 60k miles is solid.

Would it be better to use oem t.o.b or use the one that comes with the kit? Interested in the stage 2.

I believe most people use the OEM throwout bearing. Also, do they have the 3.5 or did they just make it the 3. When I ordered my 3, I didn't see the 3.5 option. I will research and let you know unless you have any information on that.

The springs are what make your clutch easy to drive take those out and the clutch is more like an on off switch. I have a 6 puck sprung in my gsx dsm and it is a little grabby but I think I like it better than the full face act xtss in the 3g.

The stage 3.5 is essentially a 6 puck with a filler in between, making it a full face. I think that's why they called it a stage 3.5. I don't recall ever seeing a stage 3 on their site, but I have on vendor sites.

I guess we're both wrong. It's an 8 or 9 puck. Different sites show different amount of pucks, but you get the idea.

I just received my stage 3 today. They sent a brochure on all the clutches and it doesn't show a stage 3.5 Just the 3 now and it 8 pucks.

I think when people say 3.5 they're referring to the updated stage 3. Maybe this is stupid, but why would one choose an UNSPRUNG clutch, where is the benefit?

I am in need of a new clutch, driving similar to OP, maybe track occasionally. Is a competition stage 3 a good solution? My budget isn't that much since this was slightly unexpected.

Kind of related, anyone have much experience doing this on a X? Am I going to need a tranny jack?

Not sure about the X, but I wouldn't even think about doing this on an 8/9 unless your very mechanically inclined. I'm gonna have to suck it up and pay the 8 hour labor charge.

I'm doing my first clutch job right now in jack stands in a single car garage with no heat haha. My trans went so I'm waiting on that to come in. I will let you know how it goes. There are really good write ups plush the service manual that helps a lot. This is on my VIII.

Yeah I've seen the write ups. Just seems like a lot of work, why do our damn clutch jobs have to be so complicated -_-

For what it's worth, I upgraded from my stock clutch to a CC stage 2 sprung w/ OEM ToB last year since I wanted a feel closest to stock and it is perfect for DD and any spirited driving.

PS - I am at 370whp & 340tq on a mustang dyno. I don't auto-x, drag-race or launch my car, so take that into consideration.
