Depends on where you are from… and what your car has.
i normally use whats recommend by the Owners manual
There is a chart based on Atmospheric temperature…
In Aus its not as cold as majority of the states… its not that cold… and i have never seen snow in my life….
… 15w - 40 is what would fit in the category for my conditions here.
10w - 30 would probably cover most conditions there.

To answer the question seriously, the type of oil depends on a few details you haven't mentioned. Is your motor stock or built? If its stock internal then you will be fine with running 10w30. If you have built internals then going up to a 15w50 or 20w50 seems to better. Its a good idea to run an oil with a decent zinc/phos amount, just keep in mind if you are running the stock catalytic converter the life may be shortened. I would recommend a fully synthetic oil, and a good oil filter. There is a sticky on here for various oil filter testing and another sticky here with lots of UOAs to give you an idea of what contents various oils have, and how long their additive packages are lasting with longer drain intervals.
I've always used Mobil 1 full synthetic since my IX was new w/4 miles on it. I use 5w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer. I also have always used the high mileage blend because of the higher amount of the good stuff in there. No problems ever with it. You can get a 5 quart jug of the stuff from wal mart for $22. I used a k&n filter (HP 1010) forever until last year because strictly modified told me I should be using the oem filter so now I always use the stock filter. 118k miles and still running strong here.
