Launch control
Electronic circuits began infiltrating cars half a century ago. A few ’64 Corvettes were equipped with transistor ignition systems. Anti-lock brakes arrived in the 1970s, paving the way for traction and stability control. Now that drive-by-wire throttles have become commonplace, it was inevitable that clutch operation would be added to the list of driving tasks taken over by algorithms stored in computer memory.
I thought GSRs had launch control. When put my 08 GSR into 1st gear and slam the accelerator I get a 5500 rpm limited (what I thought to be) launch control and I do a quick feathering to the clutch on the way out and ZOOM! Off I go! Is this something different than launch control?

Lol, what is going on in this thread. Yes, all Evo X's from 2008-Present have 'launch control' although all it really is, is a limiter. Once you get tuned, you can have your tuner add a real 2 step which builds boost and can be used to launch. I'm not sure if the stock limiter builds any boost.
if you hold the brake down while pressing the gas....if its bouncing off at 5500 then you have launch control...easy peasy.....but tuners can change the rpm threshold for you to make it lower or higher
Turn your traction control off, put your car in first gear and put your foot to the floor. Your revs wont get past 5500rpm. It will bounce off 5500 for about 5 seconds. If you leave your foot to the floor longer than that I think you'll bounce off the rev limiter.
