Talk me out of getting a new wrx

So I've been saving for years for an evo and now that the time has come I am considering a new WRX. I had one line up next to me in my buddy's turbo saab viggen and gave him a bov.

Not sure what mods the guy in the WRX had but he downshifted and drove off. It pulled hard and it sounded nasty. I'm guessin open dp and tune?

Anyways. I may have to go test drive one. I'm sure some here have or know someone that has the newer sedan wrxs. What are your thoughts.

I know answers will be biased.

it all depends on what you want from a car.

unapologetic speed and handling? Evo.

a better/more comfortable daily driver? Subaru.

that's pretty much what it boils down to.

Subaru's come with glass motors that don't make top end and can't spool small turbos. They sound great but if you're ever remotely cut throat about power performance you'll regret getting one.

why not get a well taken care of evo 8? far cheaper than a new wrx, faster than a new wrx, and you have tons of modding money left over.

If you never plan to mod it, and just want a sporty daily driver, the wrx/sti is not bad. If you ever want more power than the stock platform, an evo will be cheaper, easier, and provide better results. The for price of a new wrx you can get a properly taken care of and slightly modded X.

I drove a new Wrx, actually pretty nice. 2.0 with twinscroll is awesome.

6 speed isn't perfect but good.

If I wasn't 30k deep into my Evo I'd consider a new Wrx.

agreed. the WRX and the X are very similar, but the X is cheaper. and still under warranty, i believe?

The new wrx/sti is HIDEOUS, have you seen their new hatchback?
The evo X is 10 times a better vehicle and you can pick up a lightly used 11,12 or get a 14. Far better choice

Buy the WRX if you want your transmission to shatter with even the most miniscule power mods.
