2014 Evo (MR) or 2015 STi???

I'm aware that this has been a debate dating back some time but the Evo is a little more pricey than the STi. I plan on getting a new of either toward the end of the model year (mid-late Nov) and I need some convincing one way or the other. For reference I would be using it as a daily driver, mostly highway. Also my friend has been talking a lot of s#** and I need to destroy him in a 1/4 mile a few times to shut him up. Willing to dump money for mods etc. I currently drive a '13 Sonata T but it isn't as fun to own as I'd hoped and I absolutely NEED AWD. Appreciate the help in advance, guys!

Apples and Pomegranates.

Since the STi doesn't have a twin clutch gearbox, you should be price comparing the STi and the GSR.

Then, once you've left that geriatric boxer behind, do the feature comparo between the GSR and the MR.

I know I just didn't want this to turn into a STi/Evo debate thread. I would rather hear the merits of both from owners. Speaking of which, what do you think of your MR?

I know you looking new models of the evos and sti. You don't like the evo 8 or 9 especially the MR. I am fan of evos but is your decision and what can you afford and also always remember is not about to have a car is also that you can afford the mods and maintained.

Thanks for the input. Money isn't going to be the issue but this is going to be my first car that I buy on my own and I want to make sure that I'm not going to regret the decision. I've also heard some rumors that they're going to discontinue the MR in the next few years (maybe just in the US?)

Look at it this way... the 2014 Evo X is a platform that has been around since 2007. The STI is practically brand new, minus its engine, which has been around for 11 years now and still has a lot of the shortcomings that it had before. Ask yourself what bothers you more.

I'd rather get a WRX over an STI this time around... its 2.0T is a sweet, sweet motor. I got to sample it last Friday and was pretty impressed. The handling was a huge improvement over past WRXs, though it wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be based on reviews.

You're on an Lancer Evolution forum. Your answers are going to be biased. The Evos engine dominates the STI's boxer engine. The only thing good is the rumble thats it. Mods for the Evo are a lot cheaper and respond better.

The funny part is that some STi forums also picked the EVO.

The 2015 STi is supposed to be an "improvement", but it still has that 2004 boxer engine.

But nobody else can tell you how you feel.

If the score sheet doesn't decide it, then go wring out both.
If you can't find any distinction between them from behind the wheel, then go buy a Nissan Versa.

More people have traded in their Subies to get Evos instead of the other way around. Just saying, you won't regret the Evo. Plus, more parts out to mod the evo, limited parts to mod the Subie since it's a brand new model.

I've owned one STi (06) and 3 Evo X's (08, 08, 13).

Evo is a better car and Mitsubishi is an outstanding company. The technology in the SST is mind blowing.
