I guess I will go for a 2014 GSR. We only really have 1 Mitsubishi dealer here, is it worth calling farther ones and trying to get a deal over the phone? or would they not really negotiate much over the phone?
I drove 600 miles to get a car once, it's always worth it. Worst case you buy a one way plane ticket and fly home.

Get the SS package, trust me, the stock base GSR is just a tad too loud on the freeway imo.

That being said I've had both the MR and GSR, and I'd highly recommend getting an MR if you can. You won't miss the clutch for long, I know I didn't and I have been a lifelong stickshift snob and hated all things automatic until this car.

Is your financing already set up?
They know I want an Evo, but they also know I'd be willing to go somewhere else to get it.

I got a repo on my credit report I paid off, as soon as they update it (next week) I'll have my financing. I could get financing without it, but, it would be a crappy rate.

Does the SS package make the car quieter? If so, how?

I can't find any MRs in the area to test drive, and I'm reluctant without a test drive.

Driving super far isn't gonna work for me as I have no one that would drive me there or drive my car back. That'd work if I had a trade though. I'm currently on the fence with trading or keeping my Mirage. Keeping my Mirage would keep miles off the Evo (35 miles each way to work), but my Mirage is also 360 a month (260 payment, 100 insurance). This is peanuts for me now, but it'd make things tighter than I'd like after picking up the Evo.

Even if you pay off a repo, I believe your credit will still show a repo. You need to get that "closed account" removed off your credit.

You had test drove a Ralliart. The MR is basically the same, except faster and has the s-sport mode and launch control. But trust me, if you think you are going to miss the clutch and stick, get a GSR.

I also never heard of the SS making the car more quit, other than being able to turn up the RF system to drain out noises. The SL however comes with additional sound dampening

This^

As far as the sound dampening goes, it does make a slight difference but these cars are noisy as hell on the highway regardless.

As part of the settlement they are marking the account as "Paid", and all negative information will be removed. So, instead of just not having a bad mark I'm going to have a good mark. I'm expecting a significant change as my credit is already pretty decent.

I like the SL package but don't want a sunroof.

To me, having some of the best stock seats ever are well worth having a sunroof.

A little chassis flex never ruined too much...

I see it as paying for something I don't want/need/will use. On top of that it's another thing to break. And my OCD will want it to work even if I'm not using it and don't otherwise care. Plus then I'd have to order the car and I'd get a little less buying power.

The Evo on the lot is otherwise perfect. Here's a link to the window info: http://www.mitsubishicars.com/rs/fil...2W8FV2EU008026

It's been stored inside on display for most of the time it's been there.

I'm still blah on the GSR vs MR dilemma, but without a car to test drive I'm not going to chance the MR. In addition, not being able to go SuperSport while moving would likely annoy me.

Somehow an online friend managed to get the leather without the sunroof.

Don't know how that happened, but from everything I've seen that package can't be split up.

If you are never going to use it, the chances of it stopping to function are pretty slim. I just assumed you didn't want it because you were going to track the car.

But if you don't care about leather, it really makes no difference anyway.

I've just never liked them, I've been in cars that have them and opening them was annoying at speed. Most of the people I know that have them never use them.

I'm going to ask him how he managed that. I remember he drove really far to get the car because he wanted the car his way and his local dealer wouldn't do what he wanted. I never asked what they wouldn't do, but perhaps this is it.

Edit: He has an MR, but they are still the same package...

Edit 2: Nevermind, he probably got the Premium package which has the sound+leather.

The leather and sunroof cannot be separate from the factory. If you see a Evo with leather but no sunroof, or with sunroof but no leather, this option was done aftermarket. Mitsu has a leather program. There have been a few on this forum who have had it done. Overall it looks pretty nice, but IMO the factory leather looks better. Plus I think it is like $1200 for plain leather and it goes up from there. If you wanted to add the heated seats to it (the SL package comes with that), it is around $1500 I believe.

The SL package from the factory is $1800 more. The SL is more than just heated leather seats and sunroof. It also comes with the sound dampening and the upgraded center console. The center console gets those little doors that cover up the cubby spaces. It also adds a silver strip to the piano black accent on the dash.

There are a number of people on the forums who have this option. I have seen very few (if any) posts about the sunroof acting up. And usually when/if it does, it is just the actual sunroof motor that goes out and is fairly easy and inexpensive to fix (if no longer under warranty).

I live in Texas and use my sunroof almost everyday. But this is also because I leave for work at 6am and the weather is usually very nice at that time.

I also had a base model GSR that I traded in for my current Evo. Although the sound dampening isn't extremely noticeable, I did notice it instantly when I was driving my new Evo for the first time.

I'm now considering it, however, I'm concerned the dealer won't work on pricing as much since they'll have to order it. It also might take a while, since Mitsu is starting 2015 production this month.

I have a leather couch. It looks amazing but when it gets warm it doesn't feel as good. Do the leather seats have the same issue?

They surprisingly dont really get that hot. The have the holes in the leather to help keep it cool. I also have tinted windows and use a sun-visor so maybe that helps?

Check out Don Herring. They have a pretty good selection of Evo's and they ship. I bought my current Evo from them. They took about $4k off the price.

It gets hot like fire here, but I'm in the garage most of the time and don't mind at all to have the best seats possible.

The big sun visor on the front glass makes a huge difference.

I'll check them out, they don't have any that match what I need on the lot either. I'll try offering invoice on the one the dealer has and see what happens.

2013 SSS GSR here. I already love the new stereo in the 2014's. Octane Blue coming back? Yes, please! I'm going to trade mine in if there are stock LED DRL headlamps. However, no Recaros I'm out.
