Going to look at this high milage evo x for $6,500
Could probably part it out and still get $10k.
But yeah, too good to be true deal. Either it's not actually and evo, it has 300k miles, or there's something extremely wrong with the car.
But again, could probably STILL part it out and still get $10k.

100% agree. I HIGHLY doubt its a legit X.
Go check out the car, the worst case scenario is your dad gets to hang out with his buddy and chit chat while you wait to go home because the car is a total dud/not an actual Evo.
Best case is the car looks good and you can get the VIN # and do some research:
CarFax Report is only $40
You can also put the VIN at the end of this link to get the Original Equipment list it came with (tested with mine and it worked) http://www.mitsubishicars.com/rs/fil...in=VINGOESHERE
Also see if he kept records of all the important services.
Just because he is way under pricing this thing does not mean the worst automatically. Maybe he just wants to get it paid off and move on, maybe he is very good friends with you dad etc. Some people just want to ditch the rest of the payments especially if they plan to move on to another new car.
Be optimistically skeptical.

in for pics
theres no way this is a legit deal; if the car is in (decent shape) <-- meaning has a motor, all interior
if it is, BUY IT AND RUN FOR THE HILLS BEFORE HE FINDS OUT YOU GOT A SMOKING DEAL

Even if the Evo was 250.000, which to me sounds impossible, I really doubt it would cost only 6.5k, grabbing it at 8-9k would be successful.
my hindsight tho, no research whatsoever.
