Can a moderately stock evo throw flames?

Got into an argument with a guy today about backfires, he claimed a stock turbo, full exhaust, CAI and a tune to run rich will make an evo spit hell from it's exhaust, but I don't buy it. Bare minimum wouldn't you need a fairly decent sized turbo, injectors, pretty much full bolt on and then some? Sorry if this is in wrong thread and/or already asked, I couldn't turn anything up on it

So you basically want to know if your evo can shoot flames stock? No it cant theres no reason to want it to spit flames stock or modified.Nice touch adding the argument to your story anyways get your flame suit on.

you have it all wrong, if I wanted my car to spit flames I'd put anti lag on it and straight pipes. i'm curious if a moderately stock evo is capable. The LAST thing I want is a flame messing with my paint

Uhg... My stock turbo evo does occasionally produce flames. It's not exactly something that I was hoping for, but hasn't done any damage to the paint or anything like that.
