IXs are harder to come by but if youre patient youll be able to find a good one. I remember when I was deciding, I was looking for an evo with ACD so it was either a 2005 8 or a 9. Mivec and the minor styling differences on the interior and exterior are what led me to get a IX. 8s are cheaper though. If you search the forum you can find a more comprehensive list of differences.

Ix

The IXs are harder to find for a reason. Find a 9 if you can

9 has nice interior and ACD for the full rally car experience, but get an 8 if you want a high horsepower build without the ACD and mivec extras.

You might have to get a 9 for bank loan reasons.

When I was looking I wasn't being to picky between an 8 or 9 but I ended up finding a 9. Looking back I'm glad I found a 9. So hold out one will pop up eventually.

The differences are so minor, if you find either in good condition for the right price, i would jump on it.

I have a 2005 which is the closest to an IX so its hard for me to even care about tradiing in for one, even though ive considered it.

Agree, I would rather own a super clean Evo8 then Evo9 that's not as clean. Harder to find Evo9 as they only sold them for one year! Your going to pay more for low milage clean Evo period, I know of a lot of Evo8 and Evo9 with under 15,000 milage. I know someone selling 2005 Evo8 WW MR with under 300 miles for sale, guy wants 35k so you pay to play for super clean Evo.......

Personally do yourself a favor and find a 9.... My car was originally an 05 VIII until i swapped in a IX MIVEC Engine, IX Front Bumper, IX SE Lip and IX SE Interior and am so much happier.

Looks better, Better seats/interior trim and ACD/MIVEC FTMFW!

I bought an VIII, ACD is a nice feature but it is one more thing to worry about when it falls apart. I am happy with my non-ACD evo

You guys make it sound like the two have radically different interiors. They don't, its a few trim pieces and that is about it. Trying to compare the interiors is basically splitting hairs.

Trim pieces yes but more importantly the seats.... I've always hated VIII seats in both how they feel and how they look.

IX Seats >>> VIII crap seats.
