What WHP is impressive on an EVO?
I was reading another the thread here & was just wondering what WHP on an EVO do you need to be impressed anymore? I'm just curious to everyone's opinion?
What your asking is opinion based so it depends on the person. On this forum people can be impressed by anything depending on your setup. Stock evo 9 turbo cars putting out 400+ is seen as impressive. I would say on average you need 600+ hp if you do a full build for people to be impressed. However if i go to car meets locally with 100+ cars I am in the top 3 hp with a little over 500 usually because most of the cars are hondas, vw, etc with low power so those people think my car is insane. I was always impressed by sharkbite2000's car years back on this forum. He was putting down in the 800s i believe on multiple setups.
I appreciate the people that actually posted civil comment on my question except for the evolved member who seem to be a post *****. The only reason I ask this question was out of curiosity. Thank you again for your civil comments. I've notice sometime people on this forum ask question & someone always has to bash them. I thought this was a place or was a place were people can ask a question & people actually replied with decent answers instead of negative comments.
Don't get pulled into chasing dyno numbers. High hp Evos are a dime a dozen. The impressive ones are those that are truely built to support high power/torque. Which means upgrading pretty much the whole powertrain.
Wouldn't you prefer a car that you can push hard without being paranoid every time you push it that something is about to break?

What really impresses me are the Evos that run decent WHP for 50,000 miles and over without breaking. Over the years, I've seen a lot of fast cars get built, broken and sold in pieces. The guys that think their builds through and have the self control to run reliable and consistent numbers are pretty rare.

a good 400hp evo will impress someone who hasn't ridden in many fast cars before. I have taken a few of my dad's friends and my uncle for a ride in my evo only making 360hp on a mustang dyno and they're all shocked that a 4 cylinder 4 door car gets up and goes so fast. Also whenever my friends from work ride with me they're blown away. But if you're talking about auto enthusiasts I would say 450-500hp will impress them. But in the end all that matters is that you're impressed and enjoy the car. I see alot of guys chasing crazy hp numbers and track times but I like my evo because it is always a fun car to me whether I'm driving the car to work, drag racing, or doing auto-x. I just hate whenever the car is down, and with these cars no matter how good of a mechanic you are or how good of a shop you go to parts are going to break. I've contemplated getting a bike or something for whenever the car is down for more mods or for maintenance just for the fun factor. My car is turning into a garage/track/show queen soon anyways since I'm picking up a FX4
