Question About Evo 9 MR

Hi,

I am new here, and had some questions. I have found a super low miles Evo MR one owner vehicle. It is literally show room condition. I would have to take a loan out for this vehicle, and as you guys know, the asking prices are not cheap. It is from a dealer. It is a 2006.

My question is, should I proceed with this move? I worry that Mitsubishi will not be supporting these cars for much longer, and I worry about the status of Mitsubishi as a whole. I have always loved the Evo, but never wanted one that was abused. I am an adult, and take very good care of my cars. I guess my concern is future support.

I would be paying on a vehicle, that is no longer supported. Moreover, I have an opportunity to buy a 2012 VW Golf R. I have had many VW's, so I know what they are about. However, I keep getting drawn to the Evo.

I apologize for the long post, but any honest help would be of great appreciation.

I thank you for your time!

Cheers

Really depends on what you want to use it for! I have had my 06 MR since it had 15 miles since 2007 and I have been daily driving it since...have about 88k miles on it now and the Bilstein front struts have just started to leak..

So if you plan on daily driving it plan on being able to handle the maintenance costs. In terms of support from Mitsubishi the company, I don't really have high expectations, especially now that this car is approaching the decade mark....

If this is going to be used for track purposes or for purely enjoyment go for it...but if you plan on daily driving, I would go with the Golf...probably lower maintenance costs...

I have been running just 360 awhp/ 360 trq with a electric cutout downpipe, drop in air filter and uping the boost to 23.5 psi from 19psi (stock). Its a reasonable level to keep the car and not pay too much on maintenance.

Hope this helps!

What would be costly for daily driving it? I would follow all required maintenance, and would drive it appropriately, but spirited at times.

I appreciate the responses thus far!

I had an audi s4 stage 3. I sold the car, been searching for an evo 9 ssl for the longest time as all evo 9's are pretty much over priced. Now I finally bought one and am happy with it. The Evo 9 will never be replaced as its a very rare beast. If I was in your shoe I would jump on that evo if you really want it. You will thank yourself for it because it will be even harder to find as time goes by. The 2006 is the best of all the evo's in my opinion thats why I decided to get one. Good luck and I hope its still available to you.

As of tomorrow I will own 2 IX MRs. If you find one stock with low miles. It's a unicorn. Worth every penny. I payed 27k for 20k miles for a WW MR

I love mine! I've only had it for a year but no major issues! 82k miles still going strong Few bolt ons here and there and some spirited driving at times. However, I baby it and keep it clean. Only minor things I've had to deal with were the ACD pump (I bought it that way) and the Bilsteins looked a little rough underneath the car. Some rust spots, nothing crazy. Also the trans was notchy shifting into second on cold starts. Swap the fluid, got some bushings and I was good to go! All in all these are very rare (especially if they're kept clean), if you have the opportunity to grab one do so. The VW is still a nice car but, it won't be an Evo

I totally agree with this! I bought my IX-MR new, and it now has 108K miles on it! Go for the Evo!! I don't care which are is faster, slower, etc. You drive that Evo, it will be an EASY decision!

Mitsubishi isn't going ANYWHERE! (They were just infused with tons of Yen from Mitsubishi Bank-sush...) The 'Bank owns the Motors Division now. I sell a lot of Mitsubishi OEM parts, and I can still get parts for an old Galant, etc. I CAN'T get new, OEM parts for my 1989 Mitsubishi Starion, but that car is 25 years old!

The IX was/and IS a very popular year for the Evo. 'Last of the CT9A's. Parts, OEM and the Aftermarket are still supporting the car and will for a long time to come! Buy the Evo...You'll thank us later!

The one I found that has 26k miles is being offered for 30k It's pretty mint. I found another MR, an 06 that has 77k miles on it for 25k. It's very nice shape, maybe a few chips in the hood, and some scratches. I found a 06 regular Evo, not sure model, with 44k miles on it, and they are asking 28k.

I was thinking the MR because I want the HID lights, and I like the gauge pack.

Not sure if this one with 77k miles is worth looking at getting. I saw it in person, and it was very nice.

The 06 with 77k miles for 25,000 sounds a little extreme. I bought mine for 18,000 with 72k miles. Clean title, clean car as well.

A well taken care of evo, is nearly impossible to find. Personally, I'd get the evo simply because of the great resale on the IX's, and because they look better.

You will almost always get a better deal from a private seller than from a dealer. I would say take your time and shop around.

Before you plop down 25-30k for an 8 year old evo, be sure it is the car you want (color, options, etc.).

When you find THE ONE, you will know it and you will not need to ask evom if you should buy it.

Is a low miles one from 2-6k original miles worth 28-29k?

Also, I would leave the car stock, so how reliable can I expect it to be?

Thanks for the replies, everyone!
