Question Which Exhaust System?

I just recently picked up this 2003 EVO8. It has what seems to be all of the go-fast goodies that would normally be put on one. It's pumped out 415 horsepower on the dyno when I had it tuned.

I'm not sure of what brand exhaust is on it now, but it is FREAKING LOUD. It's a 3", straight pipe system with no cat-converter.

I am looking for a lower grumble, not screaming loud, exhaust system that still makes people look and go, "I wonder what's in that thing," but won't make them (or me) go to the ER with bleeding from my ears.

If anyone has a YouTube video or something so I can sort of hear the exhaust, that would be great!

So to sum it up:

Which exhaust should I go for a low, angry grumble, that won't kill my horsepower?

I have the Fujitsubo (RM-01, I think?) exhaust. I has a nice low tone, and never drones or sounds too loud. If you want to be stealthy, it's probably the best way to go. It's definitely not going to make as much power as the 4" ones, but it's a nice compromise for a daily driver.

Definitely did. But the ones I keep finding that I like, the posters never put the damn brand they have. They just shot the video to show it off. Even in the comments, they don't mention it. I guess I could comment on the vids and hope that they freaking respond.

Yes, I'm saving for that too, but are you sure there is an Akrapovic exhaust for the Evo VIII?

Looks like the earliest supported model from Akropovic is 2008. Not sure how easy a modification that would be for a 2003.

I have: buschur DP, buschur 02 housing, mid-pipe muffler and bullet exhaust. its honestly (in my opinion) exactly how an evo should sound. I drive an RS with less sound-deadening and it's not entirely loud. nice low rumble at idle. sounds like a raped ape when you open it up. i just took a video of it but i'm not sure how the hell to get it on here.

Easiest way? Throw it on YouTube and then link the URL here.

Oh, and what a great way to start the morning.... my heater core went out.
Now, do I spend the money to just have some place do it and lose some of the toy fund to skirt having to do it myself, or should I just bite it and spend the time it takes to remove the dash and crap???

FML. When it rains it pours.

Look into the Tanabe Medallion Touring Exhaust. Its a 3 inch exhaust with a resonator and a muffler. It looks great and sounds awesome. I am considering selling mine if you're interested.

I hear you man!! That was the story of my life and I just got my car back after it being down for ~40 days. Defective turbo nearly destroyed my motor. $4,200 later she's back. I tried this video @ idle, I have more if you want to hear the car running / revving / etc. Let me know. The mic can't really pick up how good it sounds

^ there is the idle vid. Hope it helps!
