Evo 9 and older have been proven countless times 4g63 is legendary. They also have a huge margin for aftermarket parts readily available. Evo 9 feels like a track car even stock. Evo x feels to me almost like a 4dr g35 with not as many options. Guess you could call it a more grown up car. Why even get a evo if you want a more grown up car. Evo should be a fun car, you can race, track go to shows with.

It all depends, a few years ago i would have never chosen an x but as of recently, there have been a lot of stock block x's making great power with little mods. I think the x is more comfortable and a better all around daily driver but if you're into autox or racing, go with the 9.

Get the new platform if money isn't a problem, I would if I could.
You could always get the block sleeve and go from there, if you have money, you can modify any vehicle.
Don't go backwards, get something that is current !

Oh my all these X haters haha. If you want to DD the car, I'd get an X. The 4B11 is a great engine, and if you're not planning to make huge power, the newer X is every bit as good as the IX. Oh, and you won't get "waxed" by a WRX, hah.

IX, simply because it has potentially 3-year less wear than a VIII. I still like the front bumper better on the VIII.

Yea im not panning to make any huge numbers on either 9 or x just be able to DD have fun tKe it shows and make ppl turn heads for what i got. (X or 9) just enjoy the evo for a long time. I mean im not into dragracing or any source of racing its just i came across this car show and it had an autocross and since that day i wanted to try it looks fun specially with AWD. Like i said this could go on and on but all info is well appreciated and well considered

Depending on your budget, you should also consider an Evo 8. Clean 9's sell for quite a bit more than 8's. Put the difference towards a turbo and built motor.

forget 8 9 or X, just start looking for a clean one, if you get a low miledge well looked after car go for it. Don't think to much, when you see the one, you'll have to get it

No offense, but it honestly doesn't sound like you should be driving an Evo at all based on some of the things that have been said in this thread. That's just my opinion.
