ever since I got my evo 8 last week,my co-worker keep asking me if I have race
anyone yet..keep telling them the car is not ready yet because its only has performance clutch, lowering spring and a 3" cat-back.....so today after leaving six flag at 294 driving home with my family..a civic coming on my left lane, wasnt planning on racing it not until I saw....a pacman eating a word EVO,so I down shift to 4th change lane to the right side to avoid the car in front of me as im coming back on my previous lane the civic is catching up and I hear something..guess what?...........its supercharge SI..my wife got scared and I let off the gas..next thing I know, his two car ahead of me..so has anyone ever got smoke by a civic? EVO's smoke some civic for me.lol

I prefer to take it on the track, not on the street and stay alive and keep your licence as a bonus

Make sure you read the rules on this forum re street racing

Ehhh. To be honest here I think every one has had their fun on the streets especially if it's your first Evo. I will even admit to it.

Here is one thing that I do differently. First, I refuse to race anyone on the street anymore, not worth the tickets and trouble that comes with it. (As Someone else mentioned). Secondly, I RARELY get on the gas with anyone else inside the car including my girlfriend and friends. (My girlfriend has only been in the car twice when I actually got on it, and I have been dating her for 4 years...).

I look at it this way, if something was to go wrong, I rather be responsible for my death and no one else.

Use your head, especially if you said you had your family in the car???? That is no time to be racing against some piece of **** honda and probably a punk *** kid that doesn't know any better.

But to each their own...

I look back at my past as a young kid with a fast car (Evo) and I realize how many times I came close to putting my self and my friends into a possible dangerous outcome. Not worth it in my opinion.

Well, I honestly like to race but I try to contain myself because it really is not a wise choice. So make sure to ask yourself if it is really worth it next time.

As for your question, don't come to an Evo forum and talk about getting beat by a civic

Smarter choice! It's better than wrapping the RS around a tree because you did something "stupid" you'll regret in the long run.

I always tend to drive 5mph over the limit cause most cops will not waste their time with that. When it is clear a guy next to me wants to race I slow down and drive the speed limit. Even If I saw a car with that sticker I still would not take the bait.
The other night I was driving home from work and a VW GTI kept doing short pulls next to me and taking off from red lights as we got stopped next to each other. As tempting as it was to blow his doors off I refrained. Well it paid off, he did a pull next to me and let off around 70mph. We were in a 45mph zone. Instant karma! Unmarked Tahoe came up out of no where! Lit him up and pulled him over. That feeling was far better than beating him in a race, I laughed really hard for the next mile or so.

I bought my evo 6 moths ago and coworkers keep asking me to race them. I decline and tell them they are faster so it's not worth it. People on the street keep trying to play with me while I'm just enjoying the car and I let them fly by. I didn't buy the car to be fast, I bought it for the enjoyment of driving. There is always someone faster. I guess I'm getting old!

However my buddy did get his Hellcat recently, we may have to do a freeway pull. He swears my car is faster. But I think it's the passenger seat syndrome/effect. I don't know of any drag strips here in italy. They are all road courses afaik. I'm curious to know if it's faster than the hellcat because of all the hype. ****s/Giggles.

when i first purchased my car back in 03', i've had my fair share of street racing. Now with a wife and kids, i don't even bother. I still get alot of revs at lights and idiots tailgating me on the highway. most time i just point to my "baby on board" sign and move away. too much to lose and nothing to gain.

I've had my fun with the Evo on empty roads and the twisties. I am definitely not stupid enough to race it with someone else in it. Good job!
