Well lets be honest pretty much all of us knew the mpgs would suck and played no real role in the decision making process when buying this car lol

In my 08 GSR i average 28-MPG highway. Like it has already been said, it depends on what you prefer as your feel. Both cars are made for the track, but as I understand the Bilsteins on the MR are a little "softer" than the GSR KYBs. My next daily-driver sports car will most definitely have a dual-clutch auto because im sick of traffic. However, it is going to cost more if you want to to mods or when it comes to rebuild the SST

Modding the MR comes down to the tune and torque. I have limited my torque to under 320lb-ft at the wheels. Hp is somewhere above 450 (375 wheel hp). Stock block and clutch packs. Active and/or upgraded cooling on the sst is pretty much required. For 100 bucks I went the active cooling route for now and will see how that holds up on the track. Love the dual clutch and even if I kill it I still will love it. My z06 I traded for it became tiresome in traffic and I just didn't put miles on it due to weather. The Evo x loves sloppy weather! Snow? Just more fun!

MR SST or GSR

I'd pick the MR over anything except, maybe Pee Wee Herman's bike.

Active is something that responds to heat. I added a temperature controlled spal fan by reading the temp of the 1/2" fluid hose going to the hot side of the sst cooler. Turns on when the sst is sending 185 deg f fluid to the cooler and turns off when the sst is pushing 165F fluid to the cooler.

Thanks, Jaraxle. I get it now. Did you go with a smallish(5") puller fan?

Yes I went with the SPAL 5.2" fan and derale thermostat that turns on at 180F :

I have the JDM fog delete too for added airflow, and have not yet tested this fan setup road/race'ing. I was only able to "trip" the fan on once, driving HARD up a mountain in 92F heat (S-SPORT of course). Next time I take the front wheels off I am going to dremel the OEM uncut cooling slots behind each cooler in the fender well. I have no idea why Mitsubishi stopped at only opening a few to let the heat out.
