NoVA newbie.

Hows it going all.

from the Northern VA area/DC metropolitan (Reston) looking to get into the Evo game. I am looking for a IX or VIII preferably. Currently own a 20th Anniversary GTI(my college baby) and decided a turbo would do much better with power going to all 4 wheels.

Quite excited to start new and see what unfolds!

I vote the 9 if that's your choices.

Couldn't agree more!

for the ones I've seen, they've had rebuilt/2nd motors and high chassis mileage.

I've been reading on the IX MR and the transmission preferences/swaps,
6 speed no good?(I'm sure this is highlighted in another thread)

When I was shopping I wanted 9 then I test drove the X from a private seller. I own an X. I think the 9 looks better. The X has grown on me.

Funny you state such, I got the chance to drive a X. now searching for a IX based off looks and preference. Did you get a chance to drive the IX?

Notable differences I should look for?

The X has a more luxury feel. My criteria for a car was AWD sedan so I tested a Volvo 60R, Audi A4/S4 and the EVO 9. Sooo, the X was the great medium.
