i just purchased a slightly used 2003 Evolution. i love it! i am a little disappointed with the factory gauges, though; a high performance car like this should have a full compliment of gauges, in my opinion.

why did the factory build the gauge cluster with an extra hole, only to fill it with the words "Lancer"? in JDM land, does that hole contain a useful gauge? if so, what is the gauge?

i think i am going to take out the cluster, and see if that "Lancer" hole can be cut out, and a small oil pressure gauge put in its place. i want to maintain a "factory like" appearance.

I think that gauge holds the door ajar light and the intercooler spray light.

 

This has been discussed before, it does have several lights in it plus it has almost no clearance behind it to install a gauge.
