New Member 06 MR

Hey everyone, I own a 2006 Evo IX MR, it has about 83k on the motor. I used to own a nice Rotary powered Rx-8 that I did HPDE event in with NASA pro Racing, as much as I loved the car I wanted to try a new platform so I decided on the Evo 9 since it's one of the top WTAC cars and the power and torque you can make it amazing. Would like to get some info from any of the circuit/track drivers on good performance mods to get the most benefit and reliability out of this car.

I got this car used with some mods already in it.

Mod list is: Injen upper and lower intercooler pipe, ETS intercooler, aftermarket Exhaust looks to be about 3Inc, stock turbo and some aftermarket intake. Suspension is completely stock. Dial aftermarket gauge and AEM A/F ratio gauge. Soon ill begging to work om suspension since its still stock and maybe upgrade to a GTX3076R turbo for a good 400+hp build, first want to dyno the car and set up a good tune since im getting that flasing engine light from the car. That's about it. Once again happy to be a part of the Evo family

Nice! Welcome to the '06 MR club! I've found these cars do really, really well at HPDE/Time Attack and even an occasional autocross, should you needed a fix, in between. Excellent choice.
If you aren't too familiar with mods on these cars, do some checking before you start spending. They needed VERY little to turn quick lap times. May as well go fast AND save money! Which is one of the reasons I have held this car for so long, by the way.

welcome, sounds like a tune & brake upgrades are the first thing you'd want to do. I'd wait a year for the power..

Thanks, and I actually got my Ferodo DS2500 for street track pads and want to upgrade lines and change out brake fluid to a higher level. Now the only problem I'm having is I want to upgrade spark plugs but don't know what brand to get and at what cost.

most people get NGK spark plugs, you have to do a little research on what heat range you need for your car. A good starting point is pulling out one of spark plugs and see what heat range it is eg: (bpr7eix). copper cheaper or iridium more expensive, but last longer. happy shopping

On a stock tuned motor, most of us just stay w/the stock spec plugs. No need to worry about hotter / colder plugs

LOL thanks, I'm sure you will find one in good condition just keep a eye out for a good deal. Hopefully I can get this flashing engine light issue fixed since it was tuned before, I got it. Other than that this car is amazing before this I had a RX-8 and Turbo I I RX-7.

Yeah, it's to indicate a miss fire or safety for engine knock level, I'm going to replace all spark plugs and see if it keeps happening, if so I'll get a new tune asap.
