About to buy my first Evo 8! Few quick questions!
Hey guys, I'm about to put a deposit down on my very first Evo 8 tomorrow! I just want to ask a few questions as I'm new to all this as I come from a money pit subaru.
Anyways, It's an 05 WW 8! GSR as it has a 5 speed.
The car has a lot of miles on the body..130k+.. but the motor has an OEM bottom end put in with less than 15k due to throwing a rod due to too much low end torque at 120kish miles on the original bottom end.
Anyways, you might think its a bad idea but the car is IMMACULATE. Not a dent on the body and only one scratch. The interior is beyond perfect. Looks like a 20-30k mile evo.
Anyways, my main question is that it is pushing 30 PSI on 93 octane with an FP Green which is around 450WHP.. Is that too much for an OEM bottom end?
It isn't my daily driver but I'm not looking to blow up another motor during my ownership due to too much power, but the owner said its tuned to be safe. I do believe him as you can tell how much he cared for the car.
Should I get the car re-tuned professionally to down the power to make it a little safer? Or will the car be OK?
That is my only concern as otherwise the car is ridiculously clean and well cared for!
Thank you!

Hey welcome aboard & thanks for posting.
There are many opinions on what is considered the safe threshold on the stock motor. Some say 400 to 450ft lbs (Dyno Jet) of torque is limit.
Personally, I would dial it back a few. Maybe 25-26 lbs of boost.
In any event, the EvO sounds like its in good shape & if the price is fare, I say, "Lock & Load"
Be sure to keep us updated.
BTW, My stock motor is tuned on E85 at 407whp / 410 ft lbs measured on a Dyno Jet. If your no.s were measured on a Mustang dyno, I would say, definitely dial it back
