Talking a FEW quick questions...

talkin with my bro about customing a turbo...

were gonna use a an old 87-89 Starion Turbo and Intercooler and the DSM 450 cc injectors and 1g fuel pump.

my question is....would the DSM injectors fit/work? and the 1g fuel pump...is it different than the 2g and will it fit as well?

my bro said he can get the fuel pump/injectors free just has to pay shipping.

but are those compatible with the car? hey im only gonna run 5-6 psi so i dont need enough fuel to power a space ship...yet

thanks!

i searched and found that some people had problems and the injectors were the wrong impedance........but they talked about wiring up resistors to the them to get them to 18 ohms...instead of 4(which is what the dsm fuel injectors run)

also some sadi 2g rx7 550cc injectors would work as well...are those like a direct bolt-on or what?

thanks and YES i have been looking! lol

i cant remember if it was the 1g or 2g guel pump, do you happen to know what their flow rate is, i think the 1g one is the 190 lp/h which should be perfectly fine in your case, though it wouldnt hurt to have 255

I too have heard of troubles with the DSM injectors. The stock 2g pump will work fine for you as an upgrade.

2g Fuel pump yes. Read rhyzin's how to in my ****-modded how to/install forum.

Injectors I wouldn't recommend. I don't think they'll fit either. There have been about 5 threads on this in the past week. Look to the WRX (440cc high imp) or aftermarket injectors for the 3g Eclipse's 4g64.

EDIT: You WILL need a fuel controller to run these injectors, and replace the fuel pump before using them.

s-afc and fmu are different in approach, but yeah, i guess they're both fuel controllers. if you get BIG injectors, you might just need the safc, but idle and low throttle driveability will be compromised. if you're just getting the fmu, you can use stock injectors, but they'll be close to maxing out the injectors. the best might be having both.

evoIIInsr has dropped a starion turbo in his 1.8 mirage. i'll ask him what he did for fuel, unless he sees this thread and answers it.

now im lost, the way people worded this thread...

i DO NOT need an s-afc or fmu if im running the stock injectors? if i just get a new pump and rising rate fpr, i'd be ok?

cuz in this thread you all make it seem like i only need s-afc/fmu if im running bigger injectors...so what i thought i knew...is now confusing to me lol

since this is dealing with fuel i would recommend to not be cheap about it and not get used parts...or parts from other cars.

this is what you should get:

300+cc injectors either from RPW (stock modified injectors) or aftermarket 3g eclipse 4G64 injectors.

since your getting larger injectors you'll need something to control them (you won't be able to idle cuz you have the larger injectors with a stock ecu that doesn't know you have larger injectors)..i'd get a greddy e-manage..the s-afc, even tho it does work, its kinda sketchy to tune.

you'll need some kind of fuel pressure regulator..perferably boost regulated..like the vortec FMU or other rising rate regulator.

since you'll be raising your fuel pressure you'll need a higher flowing fuel pump. get a 2g pump or a walbro for a 2g.

i would get everything just to make sure you fuel delivery system is beefy enough to supply more then enough fuel..then you'll never have to worry about running lean.

lookin at the 4g64 injectors

rising rate fuel pressure regulator...is the "Vortech FMU" liek the 12:1/10:1 is that a FPR??? and are the 'ebay' "boost sensitive" fpr's the same thing???

i doubt im gonna get t/c'd this summer..depends on all the money i bring in. but im hoping now to at least get all the 'fuel' related areas done.

so.. 2g walbro pump, 4g64 injectors, vortech FMU(rising rate fpr right??), and s-afc or emanage. and im good?

def. wanna make sure i get all the fuel down before i boost...although im only gonna boost at 6-7 psi probably(intercooled)

k, im done...i tihnk i got all this fuel stuff done now, thanks guys, ur the greatest!

4g64 UPGRADED injectors. the 4g64 injectors are the same as ours at 240cc. you want upgraded injectors to 280-320cc injectors.

setup 1:
stock injectors
vortech fmu
255 walbro
opt: safc.

it's important that you get the vortech fmu tuned to make sure you're getting the right amount of fuel. go to someone with a wideband o2 or maybe even just a datalogger. if things don't tune right, safc will become mandatory. this is what's in rrm stage 1 turbo.

setup 2:
upgraded injectors
fuel controller (safc, emanage,etc.)
upgraded fuel pump
boost sensitive fpr

tuning is implied.

hey guys this is evoIIInsr sorry i havent been on line for a while hey all you need is a safc that all i was running with a 2g fuel pump and the injectors i added on later because i was planing to do more boost but i was running stock injectors on 8 psi. my ideal was really good actully because of the afc and when i drove it was actually smother then it was without the turbo so its really up to you people might not like the way i set it up but it works. leave me a messege if you have any question. Oh about the 1g fuel pump wont work different connector on the end use the 2g and beef up the power and ground wire will give you more lph.
