HI!
As you can tell by my username, I come from the Subie world. Finally have gotten into a position to add a fun car to my commuter and want to make it an Evo. Been checking craigslist and here for the right car, but they are tough to find. Looking for a 6 speed, stock in almost any color but red or black. I am in SoCal but willing to travel almost anywhere for the right car. Don't want to spend much more than $20k. My biggest problem so far is that people are not responsive when I call on their cars! Is this just an Evo thing? Why post it on craigslist if you don't want me to call you? And is asking for pics of the seats a big issue?
Rant over. Looking forward to joining you all and getting a car. Going to be a weekend, canyon carver, fun kind of car. You can check up on me on other forums like Nasioc under the same username. Been a member over there since 2008.

Welcome and good luck!
I have an MR and love it. The 6spd shifts really nice, has a better shifter location (IMO), and the gearing is nice for road courses
Depending on what you plan to do with the car, though, the 6spd may not be your best option. They don't seem to like more than 350wtq or so. Those of us that prefer the 6spd are definitely in the minority

I want a 6 speed mostly because of the gearing for the freeway. i live a long way from the good roads, so I would be on the freeway a bunch. Kind of lame, but there it is.
I will check autotrader and see what I can find. A lot of people are really bad about responding. I did look at one today, but the paint is toast on the hood and roof from being parked outside. Decent miles though, asking $20k. THoughts?

A LOT of dealers are putting up bait cars, these days. Evos seem to be a popular one. They will show an VIII or IX with low miles and list it at, like $14k. When you get down there, it "just sold, but take a look at what else we have". Usually, you can google the info from the ad and find the same car listed with several other dealers. I suppose as long as the car is real (vin matches), they can advertise it though it's not on their lot. A loophole in the law.
