First time driving a boosted car

Hey guys, so I'm in the market to buy a 4-door turbo boosted car. I've never driven one before so it'll definitely be a fun experience. I'm looking into Evo IX's because I heard they're practical, reliable, and in my criteria. If y'all can give me some tips on what to do and what not to do I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum. 8's and 9's can definitely be reliable, but you'll need to find a well taken care of and one that hasn't been extremely modified. I've owned a few turbo cars, some general guidance/recommendations I'll list for you. Always use premium fuel, these cars require it from the factory, don't skimp out. Use a quality engine oil, fully synthetic such as Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Amsoil, etc will do you good. Preventive maintenance is a must. Find a car with a history of maintenance, or be prepared to spend easily over $1K for timing belt, water pump, tensioner, balance shaft belt, etc. Also, when driving the car, if you are in top gear (5th or 6th gear), don't go wide open throttle when at low revs/speeds. If you're below 2.5K Rpms, and need to go fast, downshift. Giving it a little gas to pass someone should be ok, I do it all the time. Problem is your engine will be at a high load, and connecting rods won't be too happy with that. Finally, get a tune from a reputable tuner, and do the mods you want prior to getting tuned. You'll save yourself money in the end if you save up all the parts you are wanting, then getting tuned once. Good luck on your search.
