HELP i don’t know what’s wrong with my gas tank

hi everyone I’m very new to this so bare with me. I have a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer es and i bought it in April. A couple weeks after i bought it, every time i get gas the clicker stops every couple seconds. I’ve never over filled my tank but It clicks off like it’s full about every 2 seconds. (Depending where i hold it) sometimes if i hold the nozzle out far enough and just point the tip downwards it will last a little longer but it still clicks off. Anyone else experience this problem?

I doubt its a problem. Try a diff stations pump. Try diff positions / angles. I get the same issue w/my daily driver at times. Takes some finesse to find the right spot

Welcome aboard, by the way

I’ve tried multiple different gas stations and multiple different ways to do it. I know it’s not normal just looking for what’s wrong and what i can do to fix it permanently haha thank you though

Try burping the seal around the nozzle gasket to filler pipe when you start pumping. There maybe a pressure forming causing the nozzle sensor to shut down. like i said, i experience this frequently w/my daily

You have too much pressure in your system which shuts the pump off.

Yup. There might be something wrong with your roll-over valve. There is a valve on top of your gas tank that displaces air as the the tank is filled with fuel. It also lets air in as you use up the the fuel to prevent negative pressure in the tank. The vent line itself could be clogged. The valve shuts in the event of a roll over to prevent fuel from feeding a car fire and burning everything to hell quickly.
