Goodbye Everyone and Thank You

Dear EvoM members,

I've spent the last 10 or so years lurking on this forum since all my questions have been asked and answered with great community support. I think I've only started 1 thread during that time.

I just sold my Evo X; so other than a few leftover parts I'll end up posting, I'll be moving on to other car forums for my next car. I just wanted to take a minute to thank the community for archiving such a wealth of information regarding the Lancer Evolution platforms. It's truly amazing how much information is stored here. For all those big contributors out there, my sincerest thank you for the time and effort to help the silent beneficiaries.

I will likely never buy another Evo again. Nothing wrong with the car. Actually, I had a relatively problem free 10 years of ownership with basic maintenance. Evos are truly an unique driving experience, but my taste in vehicles has changed over the years and thankfully, my financial capability has changed to support my taste as well. I bought the car as a compromise daily/sports car (the fastest, sporty 4 door I could afford at the time). Now that I have a house with garage (and my finances have stabilized and improved), I can afford to have a daily driver and a couple dedicated (even less practical) weekend cars. So, this is pretty much it for me in the evo community, maybe I'll catch you guys on the next forums!

This is the end of my thank you note. Please continue reading if you'd like to provide input on my next cars and projects!

Now that that's out of the way, let me know your thoughts on my next cars and builds.

Since I can physically garage 2 weekend cars, my current approach is one nostalgic/90s Japanese sports car and one modern(European preferred/no domestics) sports car. I would like one with a "pure", precise, balanced, and engaging driving experience like a manual, NA, maybe mid or rear engine platform with ~3100lbs or less curb weight. The other just needs to be manual and awesome lol.

With that said, I already bought my first car. It's a R32 Skyline GTR which I just started the CA compliance wait list on. So that covers the nostalgic/90s Japanese sports car with "just needs to be manual and awesome" criteria. One owner vehicle, less than 50k original verified miles with full maintenance history since new and garage kept/no rust. I'm over the moon about it already. This will be a weekend cruiser with seldom canyon days, but no drag, track, autocross, etc time. A couple pulls and corners here and there, but it'll live a pampered life. Looking for a build goal of around 475-550whp with Flexfuel (I live 1/2 mile from an E85 station with another 3 within 5 miles ) and a proper suspension setup. Anyone with RB26 build experience want to chime in?

And for my next car. It'll be a few years before I can comfortably afford this one since it will require a bigger budget (under ~$125k). The criteria left over is modern, "NA, mid/rear engine or 50/50, lightweight, rear wheel drive" driving experience (and always manual). Pretty much polar opposite of a R32 GTR. This car will fill the same duties as the R32. Mainly cruising and canyon days. Doesn't need to be blindingly fast, but needs to have that atmospheric NA wail (why no domestics technically), communicative steering feedback, and adrenaline inducing feel after each apex. This car will ideally be left mainly stock with tire upgrades/alignment changes. The only cars that come to mind are 981 GT4/Spyder, 718 GTS (4.0), GT4, Spyder, 911 GT3/RS* (Manual models only), NA1/2 (maybe too old/slowish), S2000 (maybe too old/slowish), Exige S, F430...?

Appreciate the feedback guys!

Yeah, I was leaning towards that or a 718 Spyder/GTS 4.0. That happens to be my favorite 911 generation. I guess I'll be saving for a while. lol
