brakes popping

brakes popping

Hi everyone... recently I have noticed that when it rained out my brakes will start to rust. I know that is normal. but everytime when I try to drive the car right after startup I can hear all my brake pop, like the brake was sticking to the rotor and it just break lose. is that normal?

Yes it's normal. It's just the rust trying to form to the brake pads. don't worry your good

i think you mean ur brake ROTORS.. not brakes... anywayz just buy some metal polish and get the rust off... no more sticking

polish the rotors It's just alittle flash rust, no biggie

Mine do that every time I wash the car then park it. It goes away after a few seconds of using the brakes. It does feel funny but I'm used to it now.

well ive never had anything like that happen but my brakes are constantly squealing whenever i come to a stop.

That would be a really STUPID thing to do. I wouldn't suggest you put any type of polish or any type of petrol-based anything on your rotors at all. Nothing aside from brake specific cleaner should be used on them, because you could end up putting something on there that would act as a lubricant and reduce the friction between your pads and rotors, which is what makes your car stop.

And sometimes stopping is a good thing.

Squealing is normal with this brake system, if you look in the owner's manual it mentions this would be common on the EVO. All higher performance brakes squeal, because they make a lot more friction. The squealing has a lot to do with the brake pad material composition.


As for the sticking, mine does that after I have washed it and put it in the garage. It's normal, but should go away after the first couple times you use your brakes, if it doesn't that is not normal.
