So I ordered an alternator, I had a friend of a friend test it and he said it was all good, I tested it for ****s and giggs and it dropped to 10.9 when I revved her up to 4k. Hopefully that solves everything I’ll have it by the weekend. Whoever had this last really didn’t give a **** about it.

Does the car have an underdrive pulley on it? If it does, you might need to rev it a little higher than 4 grand to get the appropriate voltage on it.

I revived her up to 5k and it dropped even further. 9.7.

I haven’t replaced the alternator yet, I’m gonna see how that goes. I charged the battery and now the car runs fine, just the battery light at about 2.5k. I was just overthinking it, the codes tripped me out. I’ll give you an update by next weekend. Plus everything I replaced has fixed the current issue. I’m gonna see it through.

A friend used a Snap-on scanner to clear the codes. I can ask him what specific one he used.

I got you brother, it was the alternator. Guess the x has a mind of its own when it comes to electrical. Voltage got low so the car went into limp mode because the alternator wasn’t producing enough amps.

Yuck!! That's never good. I didn't realize that the X was that finicky when it came to voltage. I am glad that you figured it out though, as having a great car that won't work is never a fun endeavor.

Was this the last gremlin in the box or is there still more that you need to fix?
